LED manufacture

Cree is probably the best still, and US based manufacturing. OSRAM, Philips Luminleds, Bridgelux. All very good..

Cree has single chips up to 68 watts with 100+ lumens per watt, although only in white. As ive been reading there are some higher benefits to using white leds as the majority of the light to grow plants with supplements of blue or red depending on veg / flower cycles.

Cree is US based R&D. The large majority of their manufacturing is now done in China (lower production cost and environmental standards). As far as white leds go, they are currently the best. In most color LEDs, the luxeon Rebels beat them. Bridgelux makes only blue and white LEDs now. They have sold the rights to make some of their older chip designs to Chinese companies, but they no longer manufacture them at all.
