On balance, Paul's speech primarily touches on themes that he's advanced throughout his career: his antipathy to neo-conservative empire-building, the lies that precipitated the invasion and occupation of Iraq, the primacy of individual liberty, and the value of dissent. WikiLeaks simply gives Paul's convictions some urgency.

You don't like him because you are Jewish and he accepted funds from a Known Nazi party, although the money will NOT be used to for Nazi ideals, in fact the money would be used to further ANTI-Nazi ideals. I can completely accept your feelings on this, your race was persecuted and indiscriminately eradicated by Nazis, and not too long ago I might add. I get it.

Yeah Ron Paul is about the only Politician who really understands what Freedom and liberty are all about. One of the few politicians whose actions back his words.

one of the few politicians who even speaks the words, for that matter.
You are right! I doubt 1 in a 100 of our congress people could even recite 1/10 of the Constitution from memory. Most probably aren't even aware of what all the amendments are and what they guarantee.

There are numerous things I like about Ron Paul, His foriegn policy the most. I like the fact that if he could, he'd pull all our troops out of foriegn lands, cut the military budget way back etc. What I don't like is hisviews on social programs. His theory that by letting people keep their tax money, it would promote enough charitable enterprises to take care of the poor, the sick, the homeless, is pure nonsense. We need social programs and jobs.

For sure, we'd have far more problems without social programs in place.

The thing that seems ridiculous to me is that most U.S. citizens fear their own government (and for good reason via The Patriotic Act) and feel they have no real control over it. We sometimes forget that governments are in place to SERVE the people and do THEIR will. I think it's insane that places like Cali can vote and pass legislation for medical MJ and then the feds step in at will and say 'nope, we know what's better for you, you don't get to choose what you want to do.' It's ludicrous!

The "Feds" have numerous treaties with other countries to quash Marijuana in any form. If they allowed a state to legalize and didn't respond, they would be in violation of said treaty, hence their obligation to quash Marijuana at the state level. I'm not saying it is right, just part of the fucked up politics of the world.
