Antics tries Miracle Grow

Good morning folks!

We have another little update.
I've never made a cross before, but it appears that growth slows to a halt once the plant is fertilized. I'll make adjustments for this in future grows.

38 days of 12/12

Yesterday was our third feeding using the MG Bloom Booster.
The first feeding was .5 teaspoon/gallon.
Second was 1 teaspoon/gallon
And yesterday I fed at 1.5 teaspoons/gallon

We have no burn still, a few lower fan leaves that were splashed suffered some nute burn. As a foliar spray, 1.5 teapoons /gal might be too high, at least for this plant it was.

Anyways, here she is in all of her Miracle Grow glory

Looking great bud!! I know what you mean about slowing down once fertilised, mine are the same, but I've got a lot of seeds coming!!

Looks good.. I 've had plants do great in m.g. soil. The yellow bag not the moisture control (blue bag)
Its cool to see a full grow using m.g. nutes..
The first product I tried when I started growing, was the seed starting mix, which was a green and blue bag if I remember correctly. I didn't have much luck with it, so I switched over to plain potting soil.
I agree, I was checking out bowtieguy's pic above, it looks fantastic.

Thank you! I've gotten a 2nd round of new calyxes and pistils starting, but there aren't many of them at all. She's still making those seeds though.

Miracle grow from start to finish
You'd never know that was MG. That's a gorgeous plant without a doubt. Nice job!

Such metals are present in other, "Better" fertilizers and nutrients. Including companies like Fox Farms, Humboldt county's own, and General Hydroponics, just to name a few. Gotta research before bashing a product.

Thanks, glad to have you aboard! I had the same experience outside in the garden. Great flowers, fruits and vegetables. And so far, I'm happy with the results. I haven't seen anything yet that makes me think MG is any worse/better than previous cannabis specific nutrients I've used.

I love dispelling myths. I find the projects to be fun, informative, and we even get a little bud to enjoy.
I'm also trying to find a good dosage schedule for newer growers to avoid burning their plants. I think we nailed it in Veg. Miracle Grow Bloom should be in this week :weed:
General Hydroponics was bought by Scotts/MiracleGro. Last year, I believe.

That Shake 'N' Feed has too much nitrogen for bloom, by the way.

And onto a quick update.

It's been a while, but I really haven't had much new and exciting to share.

I still don't, to be honest lol.

I did notice at the 1.5 teaspoon /gal level, the plant did suffer some nute burn,so I scaled back to 1 teaspoon/gal.

I pulled a few calyxes to check seed development, which we have some action going on, two weren't fully mature, and the other two look viable.

And a quick shot of the plant today. She's still chugging along.

I'll keep you ladies and gentlemen updated as things progress.

Happy holidays everyone.
Be safe, have fun, and smoke a ton :leaf:

Ladies and gentlemen, the day has come, 3 days ago.. but I'm updating now, as I just finished removing, and counting (approximately) all the seeds.

First, here are a couple pictures from December.

Fast forward a couple weeks to January 03, and this is the last pic before chop.

Now the fun begins.

I decided the snip off one bud, and see how the seeds were progressing.

After poking around a bit, this beauty appeared.
0103170909.jpg 0103170912.jpg0103170916.jpg
Seeing how well developed the seed was, we decided to chop the whole plant.

This is all we had after she was cut down. I took a wet weight, which came in at about 10 zips, which once dry should yield about 2.5 ounces, give or take.
0103170929.jpg

We continued breaking up the bud, which gave us 103 seeds on this first shot.
0103171041.jpg

A short time later, and we had a little over 300 seeds. I couldn't possibly tell you how excited I was.
This was really successful. I just didn't know how successful it was...

Then I picked a nug, and we ground it up to see what exactly we got from the one.
0104171230a.jpg
61 from that small nug. It was insane. That many seeds from that.
0104171236.jpg

I told my buddy "I don't think 1500 would surprise me"
At this point, we had this much left:

After grinding more, we had hit 600+, so my 1500 estimate seemed pretty close, and we were ecstatic.

We still had a bunch to go, so we started thinking that we might be looking at 2000 seeds.
0104171334.jpg

We took a break, and laid out all the bud to see what we collected seeds from. From this pile, we pulled a little over 1700 beans.
0105170954.jpg

Here we were hoping for a few hundred...
So we took out a nug to guess and grind again.

I was guessing 60, my buddy guessed 40
0105170937.jpg0105170943.jpg

We ended up with 82
0105170948.jpg

And we STILL had this much left

Fast forward a little more, and we were looking at 3,000 seeds.
0105171404.jpg

One more fast forward, and we're finally done. 3 days of drying, grinding, sorting, and counting, and we ended up with over 5,200 seeds. I've never seen this many seeds in my life.

Stay tuned! Next grow, I'm growing in a shallow container, along side a 6gal, and we'll be popping some of the seeds from this grow so see what kind of phenos we ended up with.

Thanks for following along!

Lol, I can't read obviously! Shit thats heaps!

@TheRealAntics what strain did you make seeds of?
We crossed Nightmare on Elm st with brasil kc. Nightmare on elm st was a tester from cannazon. Parents of nightmare on elm st:
http://en.seedfinder.eu/strain-info/OG_Squared/Unknown_or_Legendary/
http://en.seedfinder.eu/strain-info/Nightmare_OG/Sin_City_Seeds/

Brasil KC http://en.seedfinder.eu/strain-info/Brasil_x_KC/KC_Brains_Holland/genealogy/
I have 4 females running now.
Started them on 12/12 from seed. They didn't like that at all, showed terrible branch growth on the first two, I popped a few more, and ended up with 2 more females, I have one in a 1gal and one in 5gal.
How did the seeds turn out?
20170403_105814.jpg 20170403_110652.jpg 20170403_110308.jpg 20170403_110704.jpg 20170403_110711.jpg 20170403_110942.jpg
First pic is all 4. Next two are in the shared pot, which were both started on 12/12, which have poor branch growth, one is growing like a single cola, the other is growing as a really dense and compact plant.
Next is the 1 gal pot, which is almost the same height as the one in the 5 gal, but the 5 gal has a bigger spread, which is the next pic.
The bud pic is from the plant in the 1 gal, and is the biggest bud out of the 4.
They were flipped back to 18/6 to veg a few weeks, then flipped back to 12/12 after the 1 gal and 5gal plants were about 12"/30cm tall.
They're approximately 1 month old. I replaced a broken phone, and lost the dates on my calendar But about a month.

Oh, and the MG smoke wasn't too bad. A little harsh, which was to be expected with a poor flush, but it had some decent potency.
