Anybody around to answer a quick light question?

Hi! Loooong time lurker, first time poster! Could use some advice from long-time growers...

Power company is here right now to replace a pole.

I am currently flowering (5 weeks into flower) on an 11/13 light schedule and they will have the power off during what should be the 11 on. They say the power should be off for 2-4 hours.

Question - Should I:

a) Let the lights flip back on when they are finished - meaning that there would have been a VERY short 'night' in the middle of their day.

or

b) Leave the lights off until they are regularly scheduled to come back on tomorrow morning, giving the plants a VERY long night, but one that is not interrupted....

Thanks in advance for the input!
MM

ETA: I am leaning toward B, but would love some input...

Either option. Neither will hurt the plant. Option A is a kind of Gas Lathern light schedule. Option B, will keep the light schedule where you want verses set back like option A.

My power has gone twice on the current grow but during the night cycle. They got a longer night by 4-5 hours. My lights use to turn at 5am. Now they come on at around 8am.

OH!! And thanks, SouthCross - in all my years I've never heard of the 'Gas Lantern Light Schedule' - just went and looked that up - fascinating!! Just goes to show, we are never too old or so wise that we can't learn a little something!

The gas lantern routine is an old school greenhouse growing trick to produce things like poinsettia's during short day - long night seasons (mid fall to early spring) like wintertime.

There is an expensive book called Greenhouse Operation & Management or known in the industry as Nelson's Greenhouse Guide. That subject is covered in chapter 12... Many good things in that book.

Thanks, Dr. Who. (: You are correct - it IS expensive! whew! But I put it on my list at your recommendation as we grow a LOT in the greenhouse each year for the garden (not the indoor/basement garden heh) and I'm still learning a LOT!! I'll see if I can find a used copy somewhere along the way!
