Anybody here grow pepper plants, indoors, hydroponically?

Update time:

Another plant has started throwing peppers: I have Reapers! The plant is all the way in the corner and access isn't easy, so didn't discover them until topping off the nutrient solution today. They're beautiful, about the size of a gumball at this point. The plant has been throwing tons of flowers out and its the closest to the light, so I anticipate this thing is going to explode with peppers very shortly.

Habanero still chugging away, probably about a dozen peppers on the plant at this point. The peppers are huge, the one in the foreground on the picture below is about the size of a ping pong ball. Probably going to make salsa with the next harvest.

Still waiting on the damn Moruga Scorpion and King Naga plants to do something besides grow more foliage. I see flowers on them but no peppers yet. Starting to get pretty impatient as I'm now about 6 months from seed without anything to show for it besides big space hogging plants.

Looking good. My sister works for a major nursery and one of her suppliers brings her pepper plants. She got several kinds of hot peppers, but he also offered her a sweet one I'm interested in. She told me the name, but I didn't write it down. If he remembers, she should get it this week. I'll post the name when I remember to ask her about it.

Cool, I'm always interested in learning about new varieties that may make it into my garden at some point. A mildly hot pepper with a good sweetness that I could just pluck off the plant and pop in my mouth would be awesome!

My problem is limited space, so my future pepper choices will be more selective.

I have about a two acre garden, but I'm looking to run most of my peppers in grow bags in my rain gutter grow system, or in kiddie pools of soil mix. I transplanted 7 Yellow Hungarian Wax today into cups. I had to move a couple of three of the Habanero outside to make room for the YHW. I put them into my underground green house for now.

I too also read that super hots take a while to germ but that wasn't my experience. Had sprouts within 7-10 days on all varieties by just dropping the seed into rockwool under a humidity dome with a hearing mat and placed near a window.

Lost one of the first of the reaper pods yesterday shifting the plants around but several more pods have formed and tons of flowers are shooting out. The reaper is closest to the light and it's obvious it loves it. Still waiting on the one remaining first pod to change color, can't wait to try it out. I'll probably regret it immensely.

The habanero is throwing out peppers like no other. Picked a few last well and made some salsa with them. Turned out quite tasty and the habanero adds a nice subtle flavor and heat that gradually creeps up instead of immediately melting your face off.

I have two peppers I overwintered in the house that are outside in the kiddie pool now. One is a Jalapeno and the other is an Anaheim Chili. {I've since trimmed off all the frost damaged leaves} Both have peppers on them. Still only a couple of blooms on my young Jalapeno Early and Mini Sweet Pepper plants. Everything else is behind them.

My New Mexico Chili is taking it's time to sprout this spring. I gave up on the first planting {too soon} and started over. Got 4 plants from them, then put six more seeds in soil about a week ago.

A few months ago, I thought it would be cool to try growing some superhot peppers indoors during the winter. So I bought some seeds off ebay, germinated them and then put them in DWC buckets. I have 6 buckets with the following varieties: habanero, king naga, 2x moruga scorpion, brazilian ghost, and carolina reapers. They've exploded and outgrown their space, so I put them all under a spare 400w MH. The tallest ones in the back are over 3-1/2 feet tall.

I only have peppers on the habanero, but lots of flowers on everything else. Will keep updated as other plants start to produce.

As this is my first time growing peppers at all, any suggestions and feedback would be very welcome. Also if you grow these, I'd love to see your gardens!

Thanks and peace.

Short update since it's been a while. Culled the King Nagas since they weren't producing shit after 6+ months. Fuck em, life's too short and there's far too many pepper varieties out there to be wasting time with non-producers. I may fill the space they made with new varieties soon but now down to three buckets: Carolina Reapers, Moruga Scorpions, and Habaneros. And they are all producing pods! Now for some pics of em:

From seed ? Just wondering because I love hot peppers. I have a few plants going inside getting ready to drop them outside. Wouldn't mind trying some hydro peppers tho
Yes, they've always been in 12/12. Peppers aren't photoperiod sensitive like cannabis, they will flower and produce peppers with only a few hours of direct sunlight a day. I'm sure growth would be more vigorous and yields larger (possibly larger pods too) with a longer photoperiod but I haven't played around with it. If I had room in my veg tent, there'd be more pot plants in it, not peppers. Plus, I have more than enough veg growth and the pods are not small by any means, so I see no reason to waste additional electricity.

I'd suggest you give it a shot if you're interested in growing hydro peppers. I'm finding it very forgiving. I literally top the buckets off with fresh nutrient water, adjust pH, and check for new pods once a week. eC and pH is all over the place, I stopped caring about checking it because the plants don't seem to care either.

They'll jump to flower yes, but i just just just read that there are still sub varieties in their flower sensitivity. Some still require 18-6 to flower and fruit. Some ne 12-12, some 16-8. Not sure what the heck would cause this sort of info to sprout other than someone with a non producer and then they switched it to something else and voila. I'm deparing cloning peppers to market on ebay but if i cannot guarantee a quality pepper from cutting then I'll be doing people a disservice, no thank you haha

Edit. Many pepper growers use cuttings to keep there favorite plants alive during winter.

Lol I used to watch a lot of shitty daytime television back when I created this user name.

Yes, I did eat one. Was really high working in my garden a few weeks back and noticed a small ripe pod on the plant, my curiosity got the best of me and I took a small bite out of it...big mistake! It was about 20 min of intense heat and sweating, totally killed my buzz. Makes the habanero growing next to it seem mild. Gotta say the flavor of the habanero before the heat kicks in is one of my favorites...fantastic for salsas and cooking with.

Anyways, haven't really updated lately since nothing has really changed. The habanero is producing probably 20 pods a week now, maybe 5 or so a week from the Moruga...haven't really been counting but its steady production. I've got a big bag full of fresh pods that I'm going to pickle soon. Anyone have any good pepper pickling spice suggestions or complete recipes?
