Seems like crab meal is super hard to get in Aus, unless i wanna buy from the states and fork out a fuck load for shipping only to probably have it seized and receive a crappy letter from customs.

So im curious if there is anything else i can use in its place.

The reason i want it is for the hormone it contains that is the same hormone (i forget what its called) released by plants when they are damaged/attacked and promotes new shoots and vigorous growth. As well as an awesome sorce of calcium and minerals, etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

There is a 2nd part to this also, Chitinase. Clackamas Cootz was talking about his time in bakery school and learning about the different grains and enzymes that they produce. Long story short, barley is a good source of chitinase. Rye is good, but it has a lot of phosphorus also and that is a problem for some people(myself). I am sure that there are other grains that will work too. I was curious if the straw from grain also contained chitinase?

Chitinases are enzymes that degrade chitin.Chitinases contribute to the generation of carbon and nitrogen in the ecosystem. Chitin and chitinolyticenzymes are gaining importance for their biotechnological applications, especially thechitinases exploited in agriculture fields to control pathogens.

Lobster. shells and carcasses. Any lobster pot restaurants around your area? Many will gladly fill a 5 gallon bucket for you.

Nope i do have fresh water cray/craw fish that live around locally tho, but i would feel like such an ass hole murdering like 10 000 of them just to dry em out to grind them up so i mix them into my soil lol
