Running dehumidifiers is not cheap & that power consumption could go twords a light system, ive been looking for an alternative to conventional dehumidifiers & i may have found it.

Check this ebay link out(no its not me selling them),has anybody tried these,i realize it might take 10 of these things to do any real damage but its a one time shot, pay once & use forever,i have a small version in my safe & it works like a champ.

Check it out & let me know what you think.

What about Damp-Rid and its competitors? Dessicant that sits in what looks like a net pot, inside another container. As it absorbs moisture, the granules turn to liquid which falls to the bottom of the container. When the net pot thing is empty, you pour out the container (DO NOT GET THE RUNOFF ON YOUR SKIN) and then add more pellets.

My family has used these to keep sealed containers relatively dry while being stored for a full year under a friends house--in **Hawaii!!** (We go almost every year to visit friends, and stay in barely furnished condos, so we need to store kitchen stuff, housewares, etc.) We use one each per midsize Rubbermaid container. It won't work as well as a dehumidifier, but it does work way better than you'd expect at the price.

Here's the Walgreen's product page for it. My local OSH carries it too (as well some other brands.) I'd imagine ACE, TrueValue , Home Depot, Lowes and BedBath&Beyond probably have it also.

Refillable Moisture Absorber | Damp Rid | Walgreens

Although, the one you linked can be 're-activated' (dried, heh) in the oven which means that over time it will save you money on refills.

I think it would work there just wouldn't be any way to regulate but manually... But yeah I have a dehumidifier in my storage and am hoping I don't need to bring it out this year

Your right about not being able to regulate the humidity level but in some cases dehumidfiers are running daily in peoples rooms, seems to me if a person has that much excess humidity where their machine runs a good portion of the time a few of those deals would cut down on the "on time" of the dehumidifier.

I ordered 2 of them & im gonna try them out one at a time,im going to hang one in the path of a oscalating fan & see what percentage it drops the level in a 24 hour span.

After that im going to put both of them at pot level & see what happens.

Well these things turned uot to be a flop of shit, they work but you'd need 50 of them for a 10x10 room to get any real drop in humidity levels, they would be perfect for a small cabinet grow but pretty pricey though.

I know,i'll bet they would work great for drying & curing after harvest by placing them in my box with the hanging buds near them,im afraid to flavor the bud though:neutral:

I use these for drying my trees. I have a couple of them in my drying closet. Wait about nine days and the buds seem not to catch any mold during my drying process. Also my buds doesn't seem to shrink as much as they did before I started use this product. It doesn't effect the taste or smell of the bud. Just be very careful not to spill the water look alike substance. It'll stain you clothes and hands. And one more thing don't hang them next to your buds. Put them flat on a shelf high up in the drying room. Most of the moisture is up high of the room.

Mr I Can Do That For Half
I was gonna chime in but looks like you found out already lol yeah they take moisture out just like other moisture absorbing crystals but it takes a ton but for a real small cramped grow box they can work. I have never need to dehumidify a room unless Im running an ac unit but my portable roll around ac also is a dehumidifier and humidifier just set it to the temp and humidity you want and it will add or subtract humidity if needed
