Anyone use Cottonseed Meal for fertilizer?

---Years ago, I dug large holes and spread some cottonseed meal down when I backfilled...No other foods were given in the following plant year, and the plants grew to 7 feet and looked like Christmas trees...It takes the whole Winter to break the meal down, so the holes were quite ready for seedlings in the Fall....Has anyone else tried this?----Thoughts?

Never used CSM, but I did add a product called High Cotton Compost to my mix. It is made from the ginning by-products. Looked like a pretty good compost.

I like to eat, smoke and grow organic. Cotton production uses some heavy duty pesticides because it is not for human consumption. Cotton seed meal is a by product looking for a place to go. I would use it on non-food trees and shrubs if at all. Many other better options without the downsides.
