I've ordered off Attitude on several occasions over the years, with great satisfaction each time. On every order you receive free seeds, usually 'Fem's' or 'Auto's', which I've never bothered with in the past, I've honestly totally discarded(binned) them in the past, because my method's always been to pheno find a mother and then propagate from her.

I've decided to do a trial run of some freebies I've received with a couple of recent purchases, from the tude.
I've got 11 seed, 8 Fem's and 3 Auto's and I usually get 95-100% germination rate. Out of these, I'm gonna select the 8 healthiest plants to go into my 20 Gal No till or ROL's fabric pots(I'm not sure which yet, untill I see how this run goes in No till, if it's good it'll be no till, if it's anything less than good I'll be recycling and re-amending.

I poured 10ml of Fulvic acid into 1000ml of water and soaked the seed in separate beakers over night. After 12 hours all but one, the Mamba negro, had sunk to the bottom of their respective beaker so I decided to pot them up in some seedling soil mixed with a little used ROLS soil.

Here they are.............

I had some spare space in the propagator, so threw a couple of nasturtium seeds and a couple of borage seeds in, I'll be able to plant them out in the front garden in a few weeks.

I'll keep the thread going to update progress, fingers crossed it won't turn out that they're free, because they're duff beans.

Quick update

The G13 Mozzarella broke ground 2 days after sowing and I've got 3 more up out of the soil today, day 6, (mamba negra auto, Tangie auto & Blue cheese), with another 2 just about to come through ( Super haze & Maple leaf x Black domina)

IMG_3447.JPG IMG_3451.JPG IMG_3456.JPG IMG_3459.JPG IMG_3516.JPG IMG_3523.JPG

It seems like the seeds are germinating ok, just a matter of waiting a little longer to see how many more come through

Just a little thought on sowing depth.....................I like my seedlings to come out of the ground without their shell, this time I planted the seed a little shallower than I normally do, the hole i put them in was the depth of 2 seeds with a fine sprinkle of compost on top, and on the three that came through last night all came out of the ground with the shell still on.

I usually plant my seed 3-4 times the depth of the seed and find that they will mostly leave their shell in the soil if sown at this depth

Not sure if there is actually any benefit, just personal preference I suppose

Blimburn - Tangie auto........a good 3 weeks left on this one, I think, some pistels are starting to fade and the calyx's are starting to swell up

IMG_4207.JPG IMG_4208.JPG IMG_4210.JPG IMG_4212.JPG

Both autos have minor thrip damage, but despite their size, the poor lighting and the environment they're in, I'm quite impressed with them

The Northern auto, Blue Cindy and Mango sapphire never sprouted..................could've been for a multitude of reasons, so cant put it down to bad seed

Looking good. Good luck with the freebie run. I'm running some of my MWS freebies now to see how well they turn out. The breeder's include seedsman, blimburn, Spanish seeds, and MWS.
Sounds gooood, I am really impressed with the blimburn auto's, the mamba negro was frosty as soon as it started flowering and the Tangie is now starting to catch up. I think they would have been good yielder's too, if they'd been grown correctly, ie, planted straight into final pot after germination

Here's how they're looking now...................everything got an AACT last night and the 2 shorter plants at the back (Mozzarella and Blue cheese), got lifted onto upturned pots to level the canopy out a bit.

The tall plant on the left is Chocolope kush and it's the only one not in organic soil. It's in a loam based compost called 'John Innes No/3', which has slow release chem fertilisers in it. It's the biggest plant and looks like it is going to yield the most, BUT, it always looks unhappy, you'll notice that all the other plants are slightly praying and that, 'that' one's leaves are drooping, this is the normal state of affairs and when I water it, it gets the claw like it's been over watered.

That's nice to hear, I topped this one once and lollypopped to give 6-8 main branches, didn't get much of a stretch at all, but I have got a cut of it and it's looking good.

So........I've just chopped the Mamba negro auto, ran the dates through an online calculator and it took 80 days exactly (or 11 weeks and 3 days) from the seedling breaking the soil surface and chopping. It could have probably been chopped a few days ago............IMG_4284.JPG IMG_4290.JPG IMG_4293.JPG mamba negro auto.jpg
It's bud structure is horrific for trimming(that may be down to my shit growing/poor light/bad environment, etc etc etc though?), but it is stinking my house out with very fuely dominant aromas. It's a tiny little plant and it fooking reeks!

Oh......and a quick FYI, the bioline sachets are amblysieus cucumeris mite breeder packs, my fight with thrip is a real PITA

Try spraying nematodes on those mites, should take care of them.
I have, twice. The problem with the nematode is they are so short lived and dont do anything to the eggs. I pulled a leaf after the last nematode application and looked at it under a microscope. I found a thrip 1st instar hatching from an egg straight after the spray had dried.

I've flooded all my rooms with predator mites now, hopefully that will take care of them.

The freebies were starting to show signs of being a little hungry(they're only in 4 gal fab's, so I've given em a topdress of 2 tsp each kelp, neem, 1 tsp frass, 1 tsp high P bat guano, 3-4 cups EWC, 3 shredded fresh comfrey leaves and covered all that with a layer of compost. Watered them with some lacto and a small amount of Immunity boost. They're around 4 week into flower now and I reckon the shorter 2 cheese varieties will be ready in around 4 weeks so should be good to the end. The rest look like they've got 5-6 weeks, possibly longer, so I'll give em another light topdress in a fortnight.
