Ok im trying to get an idea how everyone is doing on bloom times across the map.

Im in Oregon, the valley, and my plants just now starting push into bloom transition, still not officially flowering yet. Thats as of 8/5/16
Lemon alien dawg and purple kush outdoor plants

Experience. Pin hole leaks in my grow cab, opening the doors at lights off, etc.

Pre-flowering/flowering : Pure Kush (Greenhouse Seeds)

Not yet flowering: Sharksbreath (DNA Genetics), Sleestack (DNA Genetics), Pink Tahoe, Lions Milk (Bodhi), Critical Cure (Barney's Farm)

Flowering (2 weeks in): Northern Lights

Not sure why the Northern Lights flowered weeks before the others, kind of happy about it though because if someone finds my spot and steals my crop I'll have at least harvested 1 plant by then...hopefully.

I forgot to say that I'm in NW Florida. My day is 13 hours 27 minutes and getting shorter by 90+ seconds a day.

I took a bunch of pictures, these were the only ones that were relatively sharp where I wanted them to be... I'm not positive which plants these are. They all have a similar development. The ones from seed seem to be making clumps or clusters of leaves at the stem tips, the ones from clones have more pistols and are stretching more. I'm enjoying watching and learning the differences between the two.

Yep all my mosty sativas are just starting to flower (started about a week and half ago with the stretch, now all have tiny buds.) I have a indica that started flowering 1.3 months ago (purple trainwreck) it smells amazing now. Like gas/berry with some citrus. Ill edit this later and post a photo.

Just got back from checking on them, and my hands are stinking my whole room up with that smell lol. (was examining buds for mold), smells great though.

My location is NW Georgia:
Plant 1 (bag seed strain that I topped it at the sixth node in late May and it is still over 7 ft/2 m tall) germinated March 29, started flowering last week (appox Aug 5)

My Pineapple TrainWreck was looking great until yesterday when I noticed balls all over the plant, now it is in the compost pile...

I read once in a high times (I think)
That Hawain growers keep their plants in veg with a couple of camera flashes each night.

Ok not saying you are incorrect, but it doesn't sound like you've ever done any experiments to come to that conclusion.

What I mean is that despite pinhole leaks etc, you were always happy with your
results, but how do you know that it wouldn't have been a better crop without that dark-time light pollution? Have you grown same plants under same conditions with the light leak being the only variable? If not, how can you be sure?

I don't doubt at all that the OP will not ruin his plants by taking some night pics early in flowering ‎(if they are even flowering yet) but how can we be sure that we aren't hurting the potential quality and yield (even if just by a bit) by doing that?
The other thing is that you have mentioned only indoor light leaks which could produce different results that outdoor.

I'm having trouble finding any evidence myself of how much and how long a light needs to shine on a plant before it affects it so I really don't know. Looking for answers though.‎

I've been looking for a definitive answer on this for years. I have outdoor plants that are near both street lights, neighbors security lights (on all night), and my back of the house motion sensor spot lights that animals randomly trip throughout the night. I have no idea how much better they might be (or for instance, if they might finish earlier) if these lights did not exist. Next year I plan on doing light dep, if I do that through the end of the run, I might have a point of comparison. Assuming I run the same plants again...

I'm no expert, but from what I've experienced so far genetics effects everything -- so that might be why there isn't a single answer to this question (?).

A camera flash is not going to hurt yield. Lol. It just won't. Won't cause hermied plants either.

Pin hole leaks can cause hermied plants but usually not with good genetics.

Stars, moon light, head lights, etc.

I've grown near street lamps. All kinds of conditions.

Not really here to argue about.

My point being that a quick flash from a camera won't hurt them a bit. It takes longer than that to build up hormones.

Granted I want it is dark as possible but I just wouldn't worry about a quick flash of light. I wouldn't even worry if my timer broke and went back to veg for a day or two.
