Attaching 6" ducting to a grow light hood

I can't figure it out. It's the same width so it doesn't slip over the flanges on the hood, and it won't fit inside either. I have those circular clamp things but I'm not sure how they would help.

I'm using the Easy Cool 6 and 6" ducting. Google didn't help either...

Is it close enough in size that you think you might be able to force it over? I've had flanges like that, eventually I got the duct over top and clamped it. It's fucking annoying right?

Yeah it's a bitch. But I tried forcing it over for thirty minutes and no luck. I think I'll just use duct tape or someth.........

Same issue. What I did was cut the ducting about 1" to have some "give". That 1" was enough to "start" the duct onto the flange. It doesn't look pretty but I was able to get it on and then secure it with the clamp. The cut was straight "into" the duct material.

pull your ducting out straight, and run your hand around on the inside to smooth out the crinkles, it will fit just fine

I had to take the ducting and make sure that all of the ridges were smoothed out and i worked the edge of the ducting so its somewhat out. If the ducting is just the slightest bent in it will catch and wont slip on. Then take the clamp and tighten it down to make sure its nice and tight on the fixture.

I ended up trimming off the excess down to the wire so that I could press the wire right against the flange, and that ended up working. Thanks guys.

Go buy a 6" flex coupler. They're like three bucks. It 6" duct abot 5" long and crimped on both side. The ends slip INSIDE the flex or duct and the hood. Done

If it goes inside the vent on the hood...how are you gonna clamp it down?

They squeeze in tight and you just duct tape it to seal it.

I have some of that, it was too flimsy to hold the ducting together, that's why I had to use DUCT tape

Foil tape is only really good for if you need it to be reflective. It's not particularly effective at sticking or holding things together

I try to avoid duct tape just use 6' clamps and tighten down good once you work the ducting over the flange.

Use tape to make sure your seams are air tight. Why spend the time and money to ventilate properly, then not finish the job 100%?
