What are you growing them in? Are you using fertilizers? Not using fertilizers? Both of those are dead. Just pop a seed in a decent soil, provide water and light and they grow. We need a lot more specifics on exactly what you are doing.

I just looked up rapid rooter. All it is is ground up tree bark, don't touch the stuff. Just get yourself some good soil like Fox Farms Ocean Forest and put your seeds directly in there and you won't have these issues. The one on the right that still has a little green might be able to be saved, but you will need to hurry. Get some good soil and then gently get as much of the bark off of those roots that you can and put it in the soil. It's in critical condition right now. That rapid rooter probably has no nutrients in it, might work well in a hydro setup, but I don't think you can use them to sustain any plant for any length of time. But I have no practical experience with it though.

It's a hydro system can I take it out with the roots hanging and re plant in soil? What if I add nutrients

Over water killed them.

Also probably the reason you said 12/12 worked with an auto. It lived so that's good in your case.

Seriously. Over water killed those. Or light too close.

You can't over water in hydro. That looks like peat or something.

If using hydro, next time start the seeds in soil and then when about the size they are now rinse the soil from the roots and put in hydro system. I've done it and works.

Combining the hydro system with a rapid roofer that's meant for soil is what caused the problem.

Excuse me if I don't believe you been growing for 5 years.
