Look for solo farms on youtube (brownguy420). Pretty sure they are doing everything the presser claims they will have. They will probably even go solar because the power company won't give them the juice they need.

It's either a pretty bold lie or total ignorance of the industry they are investing into... Or both.

This is good, because the Govt stupidly made weed legal to sell between Provinces. Now BC companies can flood the largest market, Ontario, with outside weed and teach Canopy a lesson about selling out to US investors like BlackRock, which I think you'll agree sounds very evil, probably owned by Arabs. Why else "black rock"?

Straight hype and bullshit.

I went to a grow expo last year in Denver and there were easily a dozen greenhouse builders there, ALL with Cannabis specific designs.

One had a novel wind powered positive pressure ventilation system; anytime there was a breeze, the house flowed.

Many of them were set up with automation, supplemental lighting, mechanized light deprivation systems, etc.

As long as that crappy 4 plant limit goes through for the rec growers I predict within a year after the law goes thru that prices will be crashed or crashing. There is going to be thousands of hopeful new growers applying for licenses right away and allowing for a 6 month processing time and 6 months for full crops to be coming in and no one buying from LPs and way less from dispensaries etc the bottom will drop out fast for them.

50 - $60 an oz will be a bit much.

On the other hand if you are in the growing supply side of things it could be some record sales figures coming up. I happen to know of a hydro store in BC where the guy is looking to get out of the business. I was in there buying stuff and got to chatting about the business and he said he'd like to retire in a couple years. I left him my email and got one of his cards so might just make contact as I'm going out again in Aug. Maybe buy a 50% share with buy out option once he teaches me all I need to know. Sister has a bookkeeping business and mom is still hanging on to my inheritance and if sis thinks it's a sound deal I could swing 50G and then maybe mortgage the farm here for another 50. If the law don't pass with home growing then I lose my shirt but it's a crappy shirt anyways. :)

I'm gonna start charging a penny a word for all the nOObs that show up here looking for help. I'll be rich! RICH! I tell ya! :D

Wow, good luck! Nothing better than being your own boss, and if it weren't for all the people you have to deal with it sounds perfect. ;)

Do yourself a favor, spend a lot of time working on a business plan. Run the numbers. Look at the location, look at what will happen as the internet and big box stores move in and sell the same products. But if you can find a nitch, thwang!!!!

I look at a guy like the soil king as an example. He took something as boring as dirt and turned it into a soil empire locally, and soon, further out. He rents specialized equipment like trimmers and rosin presses, and offers consulting. He gives people (vendors and customers) a reason to come to his place as a destination with taco tuesdays. Brilliant marketing and great customer service.

Anyway, free advice sometimes isn't worth the cost, so just take it as a heart felt good luck......

All sorts of business opportunities growing out of pot rather than just growing the pot which I've been doing so long it's become more of a chore than a labour of love like it used to be.

I'm not much of a business man so I want the guy around for a year or so to teach me the ins and outs, dealing with suppliers, how to use the damn till and POS transactions etc. My sister has a good head for the numbers so she can go over his tax returns etc to see how he's been doing. He's been there for over 20 years so has a local presence but zero internet presence and I can go to work on that. I got a diploma as a webmaster 20 years ago so I'm rusty but with all the cheap online shopping software out there that's plug and play it should be easy enough to set that up. Just a lot of work. If she thinks it's a going concern she would even help with the financing.

I at least have the gift of gab and would really enjoy hanging around my own store all day chatting with like-minded people and testing out the stuff my customers are growing with the products I sell them. I got a buddy in the business where I buy some of my stuff, (he gave me some clones last Dec), and he says he has at least one guy a day that drops off some samples for him to "test". Sounds great to me as I likely won't be able to grow pot out there for some time as first I will have to find a place to call home. Can probably stay at my sister's but my bro-in-law and I don't get along so great and they are far enough away that the commute would be a PITA.

Hopefully get my sons involved and have something to leave them besides my shriveled carcass. :)

:peace:

I wouldn't mortgage my house for that store. They're far from gold mines. One went belly up recently where I live. Weed growers are surprisingly cheap, probably due to low prices. You'd actually do better with an accounting business, seriously, it makes like 20% per year while most businesses are lucky to make 5%. Right now anyone can easily get a trumped up weed prescription for $150 and that allows growing. Doubt you'll see a big increase after legalized rec. It might succeed, but it might be a money pit. The average person doesn't want weed growing in their house. It would be a very small customer base.
