I have an htg 400w magnetic. Came with a HPS and a MH conversion bulb. I used the MH bulb for three veg cycles--call it 90 days total x 18 hours a day: about 1600 hours. Now I just started a new grow and popped the MH bulb in for veg. The ballast buzzed then the bulb shut down. Tried it again, the same. And again. Now I'm just using my HPS. It works fine. What are the chances it's the ballast? I don't want to buy a new bulb if it's the ballast. Thanks for your opinions.

I'm not an expert but i'd say since your HPS works with it its not your ballast.
