Ballasts in Attic

So my ballasts are putting out way too much heat in my 4x8 tent and it’s causing me to have to run my ac to compensate to keep the tent below 80 degrees. I bought a few cords that allow me to detach my ballast from the hood up to 26 ft. However, I don’t necessarily want to run the ballast in my room as the tent is currently in my bedroom and I don’t want that to get too hot either.

So my plan is to mount the ballasts in the attic directly above the tent, drill a hole in the ceiling to run all the cord through then either silicone or seal up the hole with some kind of foam or sealant.

I guess my question is, there shouldn’t be any danger or issues mounting the ballasts on the wood frame in the attic right? I know they get real hot but I don’t think it would be capable of causing damage or possibly starting a fire right? Thanks for any and all input in advance.

Just for peace of mind I'd make sure it was raised with no contact and plenty of air-flow around it. The temps in your attic + the temps the ballast contributes may put the ballast outside of the recommended operating temp range.... And then there's any condensation issues that could arise perhaps and result in mold, etc. So I'd look to engineer some means of addressing those concerns at least...

Attics get super hot in the summer. Like inside a car with windows up hot for some. If you had active ventilation with circulation around ballast maybe. Or go LED and save the hid for winter.

Also consider night time lights on.

Just move them outside the tent. The ballasts shouldnt have any noticeable effect on the temperature of your bedroom. Start with them just outside of the tent before you start trying to move them into entirely separate areas. Do you have a fan cycling air through the tent?
