Barney's Farm Pineapple Chunk, strange flowering time-high CBG strain?

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to post a thought I had about high CBG strains, long flowering times and the strain Pineapple Chunk.

So I'm curing a batch of Pineapple chunk I finished last month. Like a lot of growers, the Pineapple Chunk never seemed to finish flowering. At day 45 of flowering, I saw a couple amber trichomes on the very tips of the sugar leaves. Waited still day 60, the buds got fatter but there were was no amber besides the ones I saw at day 45. I chopped the uppers at day 65 and let the lowers grow out to past 90 days. Still, no amber! I chopped the lowers a little past the 90 day mark. For both harvest, the taste and potency were very good despite no amber.

Sooo, I was looking at Pineapple Chunk test results online to see what other people are coming up with for terps and potency. Most of the test results were .7 % CBG and up. I even saw a sample that tested 1.3% CBG! This is high CBG right!?

I was wondering if Pineapple Chunk contains genes which delay trichome maturation hence the high CBG levels. Maybe we should be looking for plants which seem to be on the cusp of finishing, but never do, for high CBG. This would make sense because CBG is suppose to be a precursor molecule. Thoughts?

I actually have a couple strains that dont seem to finish. Right now im re vegging a gorilla glue cross after it finished flower 3 weeks ago..and it still barely has amber. Here and there, but a lot of milky ones and some clear. Light cycle got switched though and now shes trying to re veg like i said and still even low amber count. Ive only had sativa doms act that way. Interesting stuff man

My first grow was pineapple chunk several years ago. They were very indica dom and had an average flower time. The potency was off the wall. I ordered them again two years ago and they were shit!!!! Sativa dom and they never really fattened up or seem to finish up. Big bummer!

That's too bad! These seeds were purchased in 2014. Both pheno's I got were pretty potent and very flavorful. Smells like pineapples, bananas and cheese. Here is a pic of the slightly sativa dominate pheno004.jpg
