You also need a patient before you can start growing. Evidently, you have to have a copy of said patient's doctor certification as proof of your right to grow. Six plants in flower per each cert. You don't give the patient's name to the state. I believe the state has also come up with a form for you and your patient to fill out and for you to keep for your records, which is a patient/caregiver agreement. All the information is here:

oh ok, so send that in with fee, get approved. and then find patient before I start growing? I just dont get how I'm supposed to find patients if I'm not currently growing..?

Yeah, it is a bit of a catch 22. But I believe you need to find the patient first, then they'll need to BE patient while you get ramped up. In the meantime, they continue to get meds however they have been. This is all just me thinking out loud, but really the law doesn't address it.

hmmm I'm thinking about signing up for a membership at mmcmonline.org in order to get patients lined up, but I'm still not sure how it all works...

Hello from Central Maine Kolz ... It is a Catch -22 when it comes to becoming a Caregiver here in this "Frozen Tundra of Planet Earth" ... One of the best ways to get patients is from current Caregivers. I was talking to mine (where I am just getting started with the whole concept of doing my own) and she stated that there is a waiting list of patients that are waiting for a Caregiver to start up. Like most of us Mainers are, as I am sure other states out there as well, we take care of our Brothers and Sisters. I for one use FaceBook as a tool to find all the information and "friends" that are caring for those that choose marijuana as "Their Med of Choice" ... A great starting point on FaceBook would be "The Green Cross" or "Caregivers of Maine." I am quite sure that they will find you all the patients that you will need and help you out with any direction that you are looking for.

I'm thinking all we need is the designation form as of 9/28. The Doctor certification just needs to be seen by the caregiver, and the expiration date from it needs to be on the designation form.

Well that would certainly address the questions I had re: HIPAA etc

I see.. so should I find patients first..? or do I send in my application $300 to the state first..? I'm just not sure how to get things rolling. I don't have a grow currently,

The way I understand things, I suppose you could send in your application and $300 first but you could not actually legally start growing until you have the patient/agreement.

I see.. Is $31 criminal background check mandatory? I had a marijuana possession charge 4 years ago.. I assume this won't hold me back.

Is that still on the app? I haven't filled one out since the law changed. I don't know anyone who has paid that.

It was set up more or less like that on the old app. I would answer no and not include it which is what I did for mine before.

i don't know about the charge, ask John.

as far as he licence goes I believe, you pay the state 300$ per slot (with the five patient max) and then you are allowed to go out and find patients (the patient form designating patient to caregiver asks for the slot designation #). You can not start growing until 1st the 300 fee is paid to the state and 2nd the patient designates you as the caregiver (after you paid the state the 300$).. soo yeah kinda a catch 22 but also pretty SOP for gov. you pay your business licneces and fees before you start making money in any business, its the risk/cost of doing business..

just my .02

Fabulous. Just got a hold of John.

My possessions charge has no effect and he said the only thing that would stop someone from getting a license would be Felony C or higher.

He also said you can have as many non-flowering plants as you want.. wasn't sure if you guys knew that or not.

He also said I MUST send in an extra $31 for my license.

Anyone know what they mean by "registered establishment" for making edibles?

What about mentioning to the organization that I've grown before illegally, is that a no no?

you need to get a commercial kitchen license to produce edibles for your patients.....a pain in the ass to big to bother with imo

there will be limits on non-flowering plants....

yes i thought I had read that somewhere... any ideas on what the limit is going to be?

I have a scheduled interview for a care-giving network. Is mentioning my previous illegal grow a no no?
