Beneficial to exhaust out the top?

Hey guys, like many, I've been trolling the forums to make sure to do my homework first. Now I'm in the "just need veterans blessings" mode. I'm in the midst of building my 4x4x6 cab and was just wondering if there was any advantages or disadvantages of exhausting straight out the top versus exhausting out the top of a side? I will have a 6" air-cooled, 400w HPS cooled w/ 400cfm vortex fan. And also a 400cfm vortex fan to exhaust the cab. I ask bc I have a perfect spot in the basement to put the cab but its in a kiddy-corner tight enough to only allow the cab to fit w no access to the front and top. The sides and back would be up against a wall. Thanks a ton!

I have a 6x6 tent. I have fan on top sucking from the top hole... works mint. Shut it off one day an walls were wet from humidity (too many plants in hydro for small tent) with inline fan on it works perfect... i opened the vent on bottom of tent an taped it open and the fan sucks humid and bad air out and the fresh air comes in the bottom. Since i did that the leaves point strait upward towards the light.
