Best fan for stealth grow

A carbon filter is not the place to be a wad....you can make your own clone machines, not get sucked into the whole hydro crap thing and stick to dirt and the money you save can be spent on a 180-200 dollar carbon filter that will last a long time...you can get a cheaper carbon filter if you want black dust all over the place.
Haha calling hydro over rated? You just might want to check out some hydro grows. Because a good setup will give you way better results than dirt could dream of. And have fun with soil gnats.

But yeah the s&p TD 100x and a presh filter 4 x 8 will fit your needs to a t. The fan is small and quiet. And you can get both for less than 180$ shipped. But ventilation and odor control are 2 things you never want to go cheap on.

They also have the active air 4" and w/ filter it'll run about 140$ shipped. But you'll need to make a quiet box hang w/ bungie cords and only use insulated ducting and make a diy muffler by connecting your 4" exhaust to a 6" or 8" converter and run 12" of length of the wider ducting from the converter. This rapid expansion in width in the ducting will all most rid the sound of turbulence in exhaust.

But w/ your situation, I would recommend you purchase a variac speed controller for 50$-60$ to control speed. If you use the cheap ones found at shops you will eventually kill your fan and possibly catch fire when your box overheats if you don't catch it time. Variacs are the safest option and maintain fan life.

With a td100x, Phresh filter 4 x 8, and variac controller will be about 230$ again when growing you have to understand start up costs are very high. But seeing as you won't be spending 300$ for an oz anymore the price isn't bad. And you can keep the fan going for years before replacing. And the filter will last quite some time as your not passing much air through it.

Even if you spend 600 to 700 and you yield 2 oz good medication, you would have spent more buying it retail and it probably wouldn't be as good as commercial growers don't care about quality but qauntity

I recommend desk fans. You can find them at any office supply store. They're 10 to 20 bucks per desk fan, but they're very powerful. Throw two in your area, both at the top aiming downward. Zip tie them to the top or string them up with string and screws.

Even if temperatures don't go down, the fans will really help circulate that hot air as it's exhausted out (desk fans make powerful exhausts).

If you really need to, double up on exhaust holes and use negative pressure to force air in from the bottom.

The only negative to desk fans is they can get a bit loud when run constantly. Make sure you dust them out. My setup is masquerading as a cabinet filled with servers, so the noise is a non issue.

Worst comes to worst, get a strain that can tolerate high heat. Make sure the root zone is cool (you'll probably need to water more), and that there's fresh air coming in and moving around the box and you'll be good to go even if temps hit 95 or more.

I was also worried about noise in my cab grow, I have 3 x 120mm fans exhausting, they are rated 10dB each and at max speed they are 800rpm, now unfortunately they are not strong enough to suck air through a carbon filter, so I have used 2 ona pots, also I have used a 80mm fan,1200rpm quiet comp fan to circulate the air, this all adds up to almost silent. recently I had a lot of family and friends visiting and not 1 mentioned the noise or light leakage, obviously they didn't know what I was up to, so far so good. this week was a big test for my cab grow, considering its in the lounge. :-)
