Currently got female seeds white widow x big bud. Spanish seeds Hindu kush and Spanish seeds northern lights x chronic in my stable. The jack herer I used to smoke way back when was some of the nicest bud I have smoked so I want to get one going as a mother alongside my hindu kush and NL x chronic. The wwxbb are for the run I'm on now. Any suggestions most welcome

My mate used sensi jack herrer in his cross. Dont know if its the best representation of jack herrer but he was pretty excited about that strain.
I'm also on the lookout for a nice Jack so will be looking if some people have better opinions lol.

Honestly is one of the best smokes I've ever had. It was around 2009 it peaked with dealers. Then it all went blues/cheese/haze. And everyone must get their cuts off the same person round here literally everyone is growing stardawg. I've just finished a stardawg run and it was nice. Thinking I may aswell build a stable of mothers I'd wanna smoke and then cut and run as necessary. I'm pretty new to growing but j understand good seed equals good weed lol.

I haven't grown it, but I have read several times that Sannie's Jack is really good.

Sensi's is the original and the best. There are 4 main phenotypes. 2 more hazey phenos, 1 more indica and 1 a mix of both. The hazey pheno's are very sort after.

I grew out 10 last year and had 6 females. 4 females were hazey phenos, 1 was indica and 1 was the mix. The haze phenos took a while to flower but the smoke was incredible. The indica pheno I kept and used in a cross to some old skunk!

I wouldn't mind a Hazey pheno. I just don't wanna be smoking amnesia and stuff for a while ha. Had a look on sensi seeds website before (mainly because they have a review system) and there was 200+ reviews on the jack there all good.

Length of time for flower doesn't bother me too much really I'm only in it for the smoke.

From memory I think the red skunky pheno is the mix of sativa and indica. The full indica lent more to the shiva skunk.

I think I'm gonna go sensi seeds anyway. Speaking to yourselves here and a few other people. Plus checking reviews seems to be my best option. Whatever pheno I end up with Im pretty sure I'll get a nice smoke anyway ha

A homemade Jack Flash, of sorts, nice!
Yeah mate, that was the plan! I actually used a male Mr Nice Shit and a male Flying Dutchmen 'the Pure' in the cross, just for some different skunky pheno's :) Don T is growing some out at the moment and his is looking pretty nice!

Good work mate, you won't regret it.
I'm still in disbelief that the Tude was giving them away as freebies a while back, I got like 8 for free I think haha.

Correct me if I'm wrong. But the strain is from Shantibaba/Nevil and they are not working with Sensi anymore since a long time. Whatever they sell as Jack Herer, with loosing theire breeders, they also lost theire motherplants, because they belong to the breeders. To get the original genetic, have a look at Mr. Nice Seeds. Haze, Skunk, NL, that's what they own!

Nevil on mns forum:
"Either Sensi directors authorised the release of the plant produced from a mating I had made prior to ending up in jail in 1990, or a person in a position of trust made private arrangements. The mating was NL5xHzC X SK1xHzC.

Sensi won a cup with this cutting. It was called "Jack Herer". The J.H. line of seeds had this plant as a mother.

Green House also won with this plant at the Cups. It was called Super Silver Haze. As GH never had this cutting, who knows what they are calling SSH.

In the '90s, a variety known as Diesel was making a name for itself. When I smoked it I knew instantly that this was exactly the same plant and they had a cutting. The early Diesel line of seeds would also have used this plant as a mother.

All 3 lines were made with different fathers at least and this was 20 years ago. One would assume that successive generations would all go in their own unique directions, presumably giving rise to any distinct differences today. The names have remained the same and all 3 lines gained their credibility from the exceptional qualities of the original cutting NL5HzC x SK1HzC.

"If the original cup winner was NL5xhazeC/skunkxhazeC and MNS sells NL5xhazeC/skunkxhazeC seeds then who is selling the real deal?

The area for improvement was not the NL5xHz mother, SB already has cuttings of the best ever produced. The improvement would be in the SKxHz father. Later Skunk versions that were crossed with the Haze were far superior to the Skunk Hazes of the '80s.

As I have said before, inbreeding Haze especially to the same Haze ancestor leads to a greater incidence of the cat piss pheno. The Diesel or fuel like smells are an intermediate stage. NH also has more fuel type offspring than the 5Hz, but not as many as a plant inbred to HzC. NL5HzA had darker flavours than NL5HzC, but I wouldn't call it diesel.

So the closest to Jack Herer would be Nevil's Super Silver Haze, or Shantibaba's Mango Haze. Both strains have the same father, but the mothers are different sisters of NL5/Haze (story is, they grew out 1000 seeds, and picked their individual favourite plant).

Super Silver Haze comes from the same gene pool as Jack Herer, but is not the same plant, let me explain. When Shanti/Neville tried to recreate Jack Herer they used the same line of seeds used to create the original. They did some serious pheno hunting with those seeds to find these new mothers and fathers for breeding. So even though the names of the plants used in SSH are the same as JH they're actually brothers and sisters of the original parents.

Nope, @Bad Karma has stated above where SSH and JH come from. Same family but not the same strains.

And what's different to my statement and what I've quoted? "closest to Jack Herer", including it's not the same strain...

I just said, that Sensi doesn't have what you call Jack Herer. It's Shanti and Nev who did the work, and selected proper parental genetics to create this strain again. Sensi crossed in some "random" male nobody knows about, and was never selected by Shanti/Nev. So if someone is asking for best Jack Herer genetics, I would recommand the original breeder, and not some mordern money making factory like Sensi. They get money for the name of stains, which they don't have the parents anymore (thats going on now for 20 years!). They just sell "random" genetic under the original names...

Have a look into mns forum, there you can see that neither Shanti, nor Nev have anything good to say about Sensi. So why recommanding Sensi, when the original breeders and their work are still avaible?
