hi guys
i wanted to ask what is the best led/cob for growing right now
is it still the 3590?
i just wont to start planing my build and i dont know witch led to order
money isn't issue i just want the best

i want to run 4x4 sog and i was thinking about 20 cobs 3590 running on 0.7 amp
is the quantum boards better?
Better take some Luminus CXM22, they are half the price of a CXB and have better effiency.
Ask @CobKits for more info, he is a very good source for quality COB's.
Quantumboards are up to 50-60% efficient, you need ~4 CXB3590, driven @1050mA(~150w) to reach the same effiency range.
You can replace the 4 CXB3590 also with 4 Citi 1212C4 gen.6 for ⅓ the price or take 3 CXM22.
@CobKits has made an own thread about COB vs. QB comparisions.
Best, or better, most powerful chips to date are probably Citizen 1825 and 3618 or Luminus CXM32, but at least 40$ per chip(1825)!

16 3590s in a 4x4 would be great and quite a bit less expensive.
I run mine on 4x 200W drivers and when they are flat-out, I'm at the highest end of the necessary light intensity. Sounds like you have done your sums though, because with 'only' 16 cobs, I'm running at the slightly less efficient 1400mA
For what it's worth, my new fixture (building it right now) is using 16x Vero 29s , which are cheaper, potentially more powerful and capable of being slightly more efficient at low amps. This new set of 16 on 4x400W drivers will be more flexible and will light up a 4x4 with massive efficiency (they are 70v cobs and the drivers 1Amp, dimmable) and be expandable up to 4x8 (I hope), lighting up either space at around 50Watts/sq ft.
I use bars of 4 which can be spread wide or close, on simple rails, which is what delivers the flexibility.

i was thinking about running 20 cxb 3590 on 4x4 tent
each 10 on hlg-240h-c700 that is 250W so with 20 ill get 500W for 4x4 and ill get the best results..... no?

If money is no object and you will only ever need to light up 4x4, this will be very efficient. The other people posting in this thread are not wrong though, and represent a lot of very recent research. I'm a bit old-school-no-substitute-for-brute-force-and-heavy-stuff--thats-fully-proven lol.

nobody has an actual measurement to back that number up but we do know relative performance from cob to cob in repeatable measurements.

you can buy cobs that are slightly more efficient than CXB at all currents for half the price (luminus cxm22, citi 1818 )

"If" the crees are 64% at chip level at that wattage "then" the other chips are 65-66%

you can also buy cobs that are even more efficient than CXB at about the same price (citizen 1825, vero 29C)

crees do well at low currents relative to their high current performance, but no better than other cheaper chips at low currents

but the 20 3590 will only drew 500W and the vero will drew 600W
W is a bit problem for me i want to run 4 setups of 20 3590 (2000w)
those 400W are problem

cobs run at whatever you want them to run at. in this case just dim the vero rig or use 2 less cobs

Do you plan to be flowering the whole set-up at the same stage - ie 4x (4x4) all starting their 8-10 weeks on the same day?
The reason I ask is, I blasted mine with over 700W towards the end of flowering and it didn't seem too much but, earlier on in the cycle, half that would have been plenty. You may have a bit of wiggle-room.

The closer any led comes to filling the McCree Curve the better the result/ AFAIK, Amare Technologies is the only commercial company focused on doing whatever it takes to fill in the difference from COBs alone. Been using them for years. Before AT came along (~ 5 years ago) I collaborated with Nick (then BML) to design a SPYDR 600 that would work well for both veg and bloom. It is a mix of CW/N/W/WW plus mono 450/630s, essentially infilling the whites to the McCree curve. Either 2 AT P3 r P4s would kill in a 4 x 4.. RIU members get a nice discount, too

wiggle room? sorry im not the best in ensligh... :)
i still didn't decide it about the flowering time
i was thinking about giving 1 month to 2 4x4 so like ill have yield each month from 2 tents out of 4...
or to put theme all on the same time and to give 12h light to 2 tent and the other 2 in dark and then swap
it will depend on the cloning
i first wanted to put 4 600W HPS but i sew the amazing results of the cobs(grow mouse videos)
so those 400W can be used for ac or some more filters
so what do you think?im planing to get 0.5kg from each table is it possible with cobs?
or to keep the hps?
