Thanks, Im thinking of getting a 2' T5 HO or possibly a VHO system...
On ebay from growzebo. There are 2 foot 4 bulb for $60 or 8 bulb for $100 with free shipping. I bought. 4 foots from that ebay store and they have been working great for 6 months so far. One of my buddies just bought a a couple 4 bulbs from them too. Dont get a vho. They overdrive the bulbs and they burn out 3 times faster than ho.you can gt various aquarium bulbs to veg and flower with too. They put out a much better spectrum than stock bulbs just pm me if you want to know more.

Rollinbud: I know there are a lot of sources on line. That's where I bought my first T-5 fixture and that turned out to be a mistake. I found one better at my local hydro store and that might be your best source for a couple of reasons. First, your local hydro store can be a great source of general information and buying opportunities for things you'll need in the future. Mine took me under their wing about four years ago and since then realizing that I'm a faithful customer they've turned me on to some sweet deals that floor traffic doesn't usually even know about.

Second, I like to know what I'm getting before I buy it. A lot of online merchandisers are selling us imaginary apples from an empty cart. Unless you've physically seen what you're going to buy up close some where else you can't be positive of what you're getting and there's often a disappointment in what you finally receive compared to the picture you saw on a web site. At least that was my experience and returning something you bought on line is usually a time consuming bitch.

I bought my first fixture on line thinking that I was going to save about twenty bucks compared to what they had in the local hydro stores and I didn't mind waiting the predicted month. But by the time I got it there was no savings. It actually cost more. After paying almost $10 in sales tax, the same as I would in California and almost $20 in shipping and handling, because of the weight, to get it here from Michigan, it actually cost more than across the counter. And the one I bought on line has a crappy reflector. The one I saw and bought at the store is much better quality.

In southern California we have almost as many hydro stores as dispensaries and we have more dispensaries than Starbucks. Competition is usually good for the consumer. I found that I have five hydro stores almost equal distance from my home. They all sell the same brands and models yet the price varied about $20 for the same four tube T-5 fixture 2' long. One store, Discount Hydroponics at Riverside, California really wanted my business. They sold me my second fixture and third fixtures, and when it was all said and done it actually cost less there than the first one I bought on line. And I could see it and compare it on the spot. It has a better reflector and I didn't have to wait three weeks for delivery.

On top of that they invited me to sit in on their free hydroponics classes and for the last couple of years I've learned a lot and gotten a lot of helpful advice. I would encourage you to investigate what you have available locally first. And buy one, not only long enough but wide enough to cover your grow. I didn't and I regret it. All mine are four tubes wide and now I wish I'd bought one six or eight tubes wide to cover my whole tent. I hope this helps. HSA

Thanks man, but I live in Red Neck Heaven in the sticks, you know the Crank capital of the world...Nearest Hydro store is 50+ miles away and I doubt anyone done here even knows WTF it is.... Ill look around anyway, there are some big box stores and a few lighting places nearby...Maybe a pet store or something,m they should have aquarium supplies etc.

Pet stores are usually expensive on tue fixture side. But the bulbs are always good price. You can run the coralife line, or zoo med, or wave point. Or mix them all to produce a high par spectrum that better tuan hid. At the end of february. Wave point is releasing th ultra growth cola wave bulb.its almost the perfect spectrm nigh blue actinics from 410 nm to 430 nm with high reds at 610nm and 660nm spikes where chlorophyll absorbs most of the light.

Just thinking of getting some 2' 4 bulb lights going, no budget really. I want to try some of the exotic H.O. bulbs like Pr0fessur talks about on his thread.

I've bought Quantum T5 BadBoys... first one came from local hydro shop.

After that I did my research and found best price for that specific item to be from plantlightinghydroponics.com ....

Since then I've ordered 2 more myself and 2 more for someone else... they came through on all occasions... I'll be a
returning customer for other stuff as well.. their prices seem pretty much on par with what you'd expect... t

The only right answer to "where to buy" is to 1st figure out specifically what you want (down to brand/model even sometimes)
and simply shop it around... do your homework and find the lowest price while still using a reputable source (like good eBay ratings, etc)...

My 2 cents...

Hey, I was looking to get a T5 grow light. I have a 4x4 tent with a 600w HPS, Ive been vegging with 105W cfl since my ballast is being used. I wanted to veg with the T5, MH would require extra ventilation even with it cold here.

If so, what kind do you suggest?

That post is so old. If you want a t5 look at growers house. They have the best deals on t5 fixtures. Then if you want other bulbs than what come with it. Get some zoo med flora suns from Dr foster and Smith. $10.99 each.

I would go with cmh instead. It's less watts more coverage and lower temp. You can go with a 400w mh or switchable mag ballast and a Philips all start 330 cmh / cdm. And wing. Total $200

Or if you are not on a budget get the lec 315w cmh from growers house for $480 (best hid light for veg and flower)
