So after my first fuckup grow not changing the water enough letting light get in and having a ph of over 7.5 at first and root rot killin my guys I want to start over but make sure all the nasty fungus and mold and root rot and all that crap is out of the whole system. AG reccomends flushing with bleech water mix and running the pump a bit. i would scrub the rest of it as well with towle and that same water bleech water i guess.. unless i should use liek florashield or something with it to rinse the bowl and everything. what do you guys do after each grow

I always use hot water and a good scrubber on mine. The idea of using bleech just really turns me off, I mean it might be 100% ok but I would rather not use chlorine on something thats going to have direct contact with water that feeds plants that I am going to eat/smoke.

yeah i hear ya.. thats what AG reccomends you use. i actually called them today and said i had a bad case of the root rot and wanted to know if i should just use bleech or anything else to clean out all the nasty fungus and crap.. they said just bleech and rinse thourougly. i rinsed with bleech already and now am using massive amounts of hot water to make sure its all out of there... (I have two bowls so i am using the bowl that the plants are currently NOT in :)

you'll find it likes to live in tiny krevis's like inside your pump, inbetween pipe threads and joins, ect. soak the entire retic system, pump, pipe, water jets, air stone, ect for a few hours in a bleech mix.

according to the Ag peeps, use about 1/4 cup bleach per full res and run.
empty and refill with clean water and run some more.

i have had to actually unscrew the channel plate and brush out some algae the first time.

then i did alot of research and just let it sit for awhile with water.

before i recently started i flushed and ran 2 more times to make sure bleach was gone. i followed AG recomendations but did each "cycle" at about 1/2 hour a pop.
