Big Boy Hybrid Tomatoes

Okay mates, I have some Big Boy tomatoes which are a Hybrid indeterminate variety. I have a problem with a groundhog eating the ones in my backyard at first but now they are trying to bounce back. I was wondering would side dressing them with bloodmeal be okay. I planted them around the last week of May.

My babies in the front yard are at least a foot tall and the ones in the backyard are half that size now. Any thoughts?

I trying to get them taller and have a higher yield.
I been feeding them Mircale-Gro Tomato Plant food.
What can I give them during flowering?

A friend of mine just told me it's best to side dress them with a nitrogen rich source when the fruit is the size of a dollar coin.

groundhog: can you fence area where your planting this could keep him away.

bonemeal i would leave now, normaly bonemeal would be added too the soil and backfill when you first planted.

higher yeild as in lots of smallish tom's or a few large tom's. as plant grows you will notice side shoots forming from where the leaves join main stem. we call these suckers and remove them. this lets plant grow skywards. now once tom plant has too much sugar than what it needs it will start producing flower trelis after around 5-6 of there flower trellis we tend too top the tom plant. feed every two weeks and water when needed.

MG is fine as as you said its tomato fert. you will notice a marked difference when feeding and different lighting. tomatos love lots of sun more the better.

you can top the tomato plant when you have 3-5 flower nodes then remove say 2 flower nodes and keep a couple. this will make the tomato plant force all its enegry into those few tomato's and in turn those tomatos will grow huge.

planting stick you will need a good one too hold the tomato plant up when in fruit use womens nylons too tie tomato stem too its post. the stocking should be tied in a figure 8, you can also splay the stocking out too cradle heavy tomato trellis's

The plants in the backyard are doing lovely I let the ones in the front die off to many problems. Critter Ridder works for groundhogs you can find it at Lowes or Home Depot.

I am getting ready to start sidedressing them with so Blooming nutes. I all switch up the nutes about 3 weeks ago to Rainbow Mix Grow & Rainbow Mix Bloom. It works tens better than the mircale grow tomato plant food. Just mix with soil and water.

I also prune them about three weeks ago.
