I might be wrong, but am sure plants need the higher dose of nitrogen during grow not whilst they flowering. The big bud is used on top of your normal base nutrients.

If you look at tissue samples, flowering plants have MORE nitrogen than plants in the veg stage......it seems trends are starting to change on what is actually a better nutrient profile during flower. We started doing test in this area and found very interesting results. One being that these fast growing plants are not alive long enough to require 2 seperate feeding formula's for one. And the second thing was how much nitrogen was used by the plants in flowering. It sometimes would even DOUBLE in some trials!! The other thing we noticed was how much silica was present in flowering! We found this amount to be sometimes even TRIPLE in amounts during flowering.

I hope more growers do not discover these things out becuase if they do the nutrient companies would go out of business!

Peace!

flowering plants still need abit of nitrogen, if your not using any other nutes withit that add N then add a small amount of your veg nutes in aswell

bullet, good point but flowering plants have an overall general PPM increase, which can cover the nitrogen increase. Bigger plants need more of everything, but the ratio's is important how much they need in comparison to Phosphorous and Potassium.

Here's what you need to know about Big Bud (one of my personal faves from AN):

Big Bud is designed to supplement a regular program of mineral nutrition in your garden with a complement of 19 amino acids for alkaloid and protein synthesis.

The 19 amino acids in Big Bud are precursors to every metabolic process that occurs in plants. This is because amino acids are the building blocks of all proteins. Furthermore amino acids are the direct precursors for many plant biochemicals, especially alkaloids.

The intense growth of high-yielding plants presents the grower with many more metabolic processes that can be supplemented directly with Big Bud s ingredients. These ingredients will bulk-up growth because amino acids are hoarded and stored by actively growing plants. Plants recognize them as precious precursors for proteins and alkaloids, and once amino acids are inside the plant, being moved along with the sap of the phloem, they are directed to areas of high biosynthesis and growth.

Amino Acids are called reduced nitrogen , since they have the amine or -NH2 group in their structure. Amino acids are the first thing that plants synthesize when they are fed mineral nitrogen such as nitrates (NO3) or ammoniacal nitrogen (NH3). Other Amino acids get synthesized from the simple ones like glycine, aspartate or serine. Amino acids are sometimes called organic nitrogen as they have both carbon and nitrogen in their molecular structures. Using Big Bud regularly will by-pass, or jump ahead of the conversion of mineral NH3 and N03 into organic nitrogen.

Big Bud provides your plants with 19 pre-synthesized, biologically active amino acids; these will be stored for later use, or be converted into alkaloids, protein and new enzymes, bulking-up all plant growth.

Read the article in this thread, they do a specific test on Big Bud and the results will probsbly shock you.

I guess you didn't read the article then? Big Bud has quite alot of lead, cadmium and other heavy metals in it. Enjoy smokin them after the plant sucks them all up!

im a hesi fan myself(soil grower),but to be fair to AN many ppl who dont even work for AN who have done side by sides comparing with other nutrients usually get bigger yeilds from using AN.sometimes a significant increase in yield.
i was thinking about getting some of their flowering boosters, but i'll just get some plagron green sensation instead.
