Black dog led vs kind led

here is some info on lights from a company that sells lights, LMFAO:dunce::dunce::dunce::dunce::dunce:
look close at who is giving you info.
you have a large area to cover, LED will require some DEEP pockets to cover that sq ft
He's in an LED section asking advice about LED..
Why are you such a troll?

And OP, watch what happens to the guys in this thread who tell the truth. I will soon be blocked from posting in this thread. It always happens with these guys. they get seriously offended by the truth. I never said anything about what lights to choose, and look at how they are already acting.

Dr.Nick implied StephenJ's advice was suspect because StephenJ is an advertiser here that sells LED grow lights, but his advice was spot on and didn't in any way push (or even mention) his own product...

There are MUCH better options for the money. Kind and Black Dog both suck. They're expensive and inefficient (meaning lots of the energy they use is wasted as heat instead of usable light).

ONE of those better options is Horticulture Lighting Group and their quantum board based lights and DIY kits, but there are many other equally good and affordable (pre-built and DIY) options as well from Timber Grow Lights, Rapid LED, Tasty LED, Cob Kits and several others..

Even if you wanted to go the route of an expensive fancy 'blurple', there are much, much better options than black dog or kind... ChilLED grow lights and California Light Works are 2 examples..

that is some solid advise, BUT, is it the best choice for the square footage he needs to cover? and why can't he be told that LED may not be his best choice? because it's the led section?:dunce:

Ah so @Dr.Nick Riviera , I was right to take what you said the way I interpreted it.
End of the day, yes they are advertisers who sell lights, but regardless of if YOU trust them or not they have a good reputation as opposed to the lights in the title of the thread. Plus it was mainly the users of these lights who recommended them, not the actual designers or sellers who actually just pointed out what the OP should be looking for in an LED. Stephen and cobkits did not spiel out a sales pitch or suggest the OP bought from them.
I have seen both recommend lighting from other sellers if geographical location or their own systems didn't suit the buyers needs.

You don't have to look very hard to find great examples of grows using any of this LED tech.

OH and BTW, this is a quote from the op

''Any input will help even if it's recommending other sorce of light""

"" I want to cover a 15x13 foot area with the best available lights""

I just feel like at this time, with the current state of HID and LED technologies, LED is always the best choice, regardless of the square footage one needs to cover. Even if DE HPS can come close to LED in efficiency for a slightly cheaper up front cost, DE bulbs (which aren't cheap!) have to be re-purchased every year, multiple times per year in some cases... LED grow lights can last 50,000+ hours (>11 yrs of continuous 12/12) with little to no maintenance at all, so the extra up front cost is quickly made up for in savings from not buying bulbs...

I haven't replaced my $95 DE bulb in a year and a half and grow close to 3 units per light still. HMMM?

i wish my ceilings were higher or i would have went DE instead of COB. but i'm only in 12 sq ft and COBS made more sense for me. penentration of DE is better than led IMO.

Based on what you said I don't think there's any chance of you being blocked from the thread. You do have a valid point although what Stephen said was true.

Due diligence, especially when considering LED vs DE is a good idea. The information is out there for those who look and it's possible to quantify a light source without asking the retailer or getting advice from random people. LPW figures and SPD data from the bulb/emitter manufacturers can be translated into PAR watts and/or photon count. Then electrical rate projections can be done for any particular solution. DE is no joke. LED can be better but not by virtue of being white alone.

We were saying both of those brands were shit long before any advertisers got in here. The reason being they both are shit! Cobs or quantum boards are the way to go

And I don't disagree with that. But. ARE they the best lighting solution for the sq footage the op has to cover? Let's not make this a led vs hps thread. Lets find the op what he is looking for. the best lighting solution for HIS application.

He said he wanted the best right? Price is no object if you want the best. People fail to talk about bulb changes with hps....im
And getting told his choices are shit by site sponsors, why are you so angry that I told him to be careful? seems odd from a NEW member.
Do you know how to read? They didn't put an add up for their product they said a type of diode is good. they happen to use that diode in their fixture. Be careful listening to these hid fanboys all they care about is startup price. They always jump into led threads an tell people hid is cheaper haha like everyone doesn't know that but I guess stating the obvious is useful sometimes...

If he had the budget to fill that room with black dog or kind he can afford to fill it with cob or mid power diodes which in the long run are a better option.

That depends on who you ask, i don't trust them or consider them good growers, if you look at their grow they got problem with nutrients, problem with lighting, problem with hvac, and totally unimpressive plants. I would seriously take anything said by those two with a few grains of salt, they are just trying to peddle their wares to unsuspecting growers that don't know better.

If you didn't notice when i suggest DE lights because this guys area is huge and the price is the best they immediately troll my posts.
