Boycott "feminized" seeds

Taking "what God gives you" is not a way to choose seeds. Even if I were religious, I would assume that since God made the regular seeds... then surely he would have also been responsible for the feminized seeds as well. Some people love their regular seeds, some love their fem seeds. I love whatever seeds can grow me fat, consistent, dank buds. I just wonder- is there no place for feminized seeds in breeding? I mean-I know they breed 'em and package 'em up, but are they completely useless to a 'real' breeder (a breeder concerned with genetics/quality rather than capitalism/sales)?
No question they are useful to real breeders. A real breeder would self their males too to see what kind of product is produced. But you can use the fem (on females, I'm pretty sure if you use dutchmaster reverse on males you get htem to grow female flowers) process to lockdown certain recessive traits that are extremely rare, especially if you're breeding with smaller numbers and can't grow thousands of plants. Take a desired offspring from that S1 and cross it back to your original male and you have locked down the trait you were looking for in a reasonably consistent fashion.

There's room for IBL's and for F1's and S1's in the game, it's just a matter of responsible use. I don't see GHS or Barney's being very responsible. At least Strain Hunters is an interesting series I guess.

You could not have said it better my friend. Big difference : Commercial vs Love Of Plant.
To all commercial Breeders and Seedbanks:

I have noticed a very disturbing trend, that many of you have decided to forgo the production of "Regular" seed versions of your strains, in favor of exclusive "Feminized" seed stock. While I feel "Feminized" seeds have a place in the gardens of many, many of us have no use for them.

If it is too much to ask you to produce "Regular" seed stock offerings, alongside your chemically-altered, non-organic "Feminized" seeds, then it is too much to ask me to send you my money.

Despite the fact that I may want to try your strains, I have tested many hundreds of your "Feminized" offering and I am of the opinion they are not only of inferior quality, vigor, and stability, but also the epitome of lazy breeding techniques designed to protect profits from the creation of "F2" generations.

While I understand the need for your breeding projects to remain profitable, until you again decide to produce quality, stable genetics, without the use of hermaphroditic traits, I will continue to patronize your competitors.

Have a great year.

i don't understand the animosity
Personally I see the attraction for small growers but at the same time I also see a potential for turning harmless weed into genetically altered poision. I see basically 4 groups looking at weed. Small grower, commercial grower, corporate america and the feds. Feds are just waiting to see where all this goes. Small grower mostly consumer wants to enjoy quality at the least cost and work. Large commercial growers are the most likely to snag any possibility of producing what ever is popular and selling at the lowest possible investment even if it means producing hazzardous crap. Then there is corporate america, the drug manufactures who would like to find a way into this market place.
For now silver is the element being used and people claiming its organic. Organic what? Do any of you who think it is organic know how hazzardous burning heavy metals are. You are going to try and say its not in the weed. Its in there. It may be small trivial amounts but what will it do to the evolution of the plants.
Maybe I'm one of those people who think too much But I see what happened to harmless meth when people started using chemicals and any way possible to increase profit. Early 60s meth was just harmless speed, not much more of a hazzard than weed is now. Its original make up is gone forgotten, what exists today as meth is a mixture of extreamly hazzardous crap that threatens to destroy anyone who is stupid enough to do it.
Today silver is the element of choice. Cheap simple easy to obtain. Whats next Mercury?

Despite the fact that I may want to try your strains, I have tested many hundreds of your "Feminized" offering and I am of the opinion they are not only of inferior quality, vigor, and stability, but also the epitome of lazy breeding techniques designed to protect profits from the creation of "F2" generations.
The process has already started. Where will it all end?

I love how people who haven't even tried them are hating...hella buck nastys up in here....

Yep, clearly those complaining the loudest have the least experience with feminized seeds. They are complaining because someone else who has never grown feminized seeds told them.

Try growing some first from a well known reliable breeder, then make your own opinion.
