Ok so I'm planning to start growing when its legal been wanting to do a 1k+ light setup for a while since i left California in 2012 and maybe ill finally have the chance if this vote passes.

So with all the research ive came up with these, Can you all take a look and see if i picked a good setup:
BALLAST:
SolisTek MATRIX SE/DE 1000W Digital Ballast 120/240V x2 - $332 /w free shipping at Hydro empire with there 10% off code. I would tune each of these to 660 and i want the matrix specif because the wireless control and light dim/shutoff settings. And after my research $162 for a Digital High Frequency Ballast at 106hz for that price is phenom.

REFLECTOR:
Through EXTENSIVEEEE research I found this bad boy.
Double ENDED Air Cooled Reflector Hydroponics Grow Light DE Reflector Hoods 6"

Price:
US $88.99

And last but not least

BULB:
Growers Choice 630W DE Double Ended CMH Ceramic MH Lamp 3-4100K = $138.97 x2 $278

I cant figure out if I should use the 3100, or 4100 for specif flowering only, veg will be done elsewhere.

So this will cost me $332 + $180 + $278 = $790

OR
I can do the same ballast: solistek 1k

Reflector:
El Jefe Double 8"" Dual Lamp Reflector $198 x 2 $396

Lights:
Philips Mastercolor CDM-TP Elite 315W CMH Agro Lamp T12 - 3100ºK x2 $75 x 2 $150
Philips MasterColor CDM-TMW Elite 315W/942 CMH Lamp - 4200ºK x2 $75 x 2 $150
Also 315 socket adapters x 4 $80
so this will cost me 300 + 398 + 332 = $1,110 about $320 more or $160 more for each light.

Also The big reason i would wan to do another setup, because it would be a better spectrum. I would set it up as follower :
|"""""|"""""| Light1
4100 3100

|"""""|"""""| Light 2
3100 4100

And i would set it up like this to make sure im getting a nice even spectrum

So my quetion is, should i choose the split spectrum for 320 more, doesn't seem like much now that ive done the math, or would a DE bulb be more efficient in terms of longevity.

hps ,its all good having one of these hoods double bulbs means double heat so make sure that you get a decent exaust fan

i would pass on both . the top one will not have any coverage . the second . you dont need 2 bulbs in one unit . get a single 8 inch and drop in a 1000 watt hps and get a 8 inch . suggest a unit like this .
http://hydrobuilder.com/raptor-8-air-cooled-reflector.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=shopping&utm_campaign=RP8AC&gclid=Cj0KEQjw3ZS-BRD1xu3qw8uS2s4BEiQA2bcfMylFQkMJyXcBjD8RLfCcdziDS6lCTekXD6AwmG6yOuEaAv5h8P8HAQ
for what your paying might a s well get one of the best . and get a hortilux super hps bulb . and you will have 1 of the best set ups any where for the ballast i suggest the solitek 1000 watt digital ballast it produces 45 % more par with the bulb and the ballast meaning or plants will see up to 45 % more useful light .

Thanks for the input tyke and Bryan.

I was reading EVERYWHERE that these CMH bulbs kick everything elses ass.
The reason for the dual bulb would be for 3100 and 4100 spectrum, Plus its 660 watts vs 330, that's like, why put a 1000 w when you could put a 400, that's basically what your saying with "you dont need 2 bulbs in one unit"

the Cmh has proved to be FAR more effective considering PAR and Micro-moles Reference here :
Watch First
Second, more In depth on Specifics.

HPS < LEP < CMH No exception.

Also, I'll be stacking the two lights very close in a 5'3" x 6'7" by 9 so there will be alot of coverage for the space, 1320 true watts

1000 watts is a hell of a lot of coverage even for very large plants . i guess a 5/5 area . read about spectrum you will see if you mix a mh with a hps your not doing as good as you could if you used a 2700k . you want a red in flower a white in veg . but they will both work in any situation but not as well as using the correct spectrum at the proper time .

Hey bryan, Did you watch the videos i linked. it explains why CMH is FAR superior to MH completely different tech. I've heard of growers yielding 1.3-1.5hg per watt, Also The UV with the CMH is amazing, It will increase natural oil and resin production. When the plant has such strong uv being recieved, it puts on more natural oils as well as trichs to act as a sunscreen

and i have read on Spectrum, GO look at spectrum when comparing a CMH, it doesn't sound like you've seen it yet, because the difference is amazing

it is superior because of the ballast. It is a LFSW, low frequency square wave. It drives the bulb about 30% more efficiently that the standard magnetic or electronic ballast. if you power a cmh bulb with an electronic ballast you wont get the same output.

The CMH uses the LFSW correct, I have found a deal for two units, $396 shipped from China

The THD of 6% worries me, but there is a 3 year warranty, still no guarantees for RF

I have read THD should be no more then 5% for a single device

I believe that will be perfect for the dual bulb jefe

Please correct me if im wrong @Growdict

Wear a hat and sunglasses or stay out of the room when the LEC is on. That UV is good for plants and also good for skin cancer.

I have a sun system 315w cmh and it kicks ass. I ise the 3100k all the way through and it works great. You might get more coverage by just doing 2 x 315w cmh instead of one 630. You can get 2 phantom 315 set ups for around the same price or less as the one set up your looking at.

But I want to do 2, because im going to be buying 8 more for a 8.5 x 28' V Nose trailer, And ill want 1 630 every 3 feet

Plus in those respects, the single bulb is probally cooler and cheaper to replace, and the Ballast on this one looks sick, First low freq square wave ive seen for a DE bulb, Only ballast i know that can handle a DE properly is Badass and Solistek, so this one is made Specific for it, They also have a two plug 630, for two seperate 315's, that's tempting as well|

... Wow this bad boy has a remote, and comes with those cheap ass china hangers, Dont get me wrong they work great, but ive had one break before. I may or may not have set it up right...... But marijuana is strong. SO Hot Damn! .... Also WTH the buy it now Disapeered?? i Saw it had a buy it now, any clue why it went away?

Something is fishy about that add!

The Bulb is listed as a
Growers Choice 630W DE Double Ended CMH Ceramic MH Lamp 3-4100K = $138.97 x2 $278

Now look at the hood they have there......Sonny, that AIN'T a DE hood!

This is the bulb they list
This IS a DE CMH bulb - That hood is NOT a DE bulb hood!

The hood they show is for putting in an HPS and a MH bulb together for increased spectral output! The so called dual bulb hood - NOT a dual ended bulb hood!

It should be noted that you can buy dual arc bulbs with a 600 HPS and a 400HM in ONE bulb! That made dual bulb hoods obsolete!

Be careful! They're trying to snooker you!
