Do you guys have any suggestions for a 2x2 build? I am thinking the EB strips from digikey.ca. Would 5 of them be enough? 3500k?

I hate giving advice, but...... personally I could flower if there were 4x strips or 8x strips or 12x strips....but intensity and strains will vary.
3500k is fine for veg/flower. They all work veg/flower 2700k, 3k, 3500k 4000, 5000 even 6500k. Some use a combo of multiple K temps...:peace:

Thanks, It is my first build, just need a place to start. It think I've researched myself into circles.

How about this....if you ran 4x strips at 1050ma....It will use the same power roughly as running 8x strips @500ma...but the 8x strips will be putting out a bit more PPF and less of the heat is light energy........running lower currents [amps] almost always makes a light diode more efficient, referred to as running "soft". HTH

Not too burst your bubble either, but then, we need to find the QER which is what the diode will emit as 100% efficiency/watt and compare that to the figure you are receiving from your amperage at running....Then, you need the umol/ joule to multiply against the ration of the Efficiency/ QER to get the PPF.....then we can start comparing output....You cannot compare Lumens / watts, especially across different Kelvin temps....People get lazy, use it as an easy guideline and people who don't know how it works, now assume a different meaning....

Lumens alone is not a good figure for comparison, alone, but PPF is. Photosynthetic Photon Flux. :peace:

So like did you even read what i said? I said i only have the basics and as a GENERAL guideline you can look at that for an initial comparison and quickly see that its not worth digging farther. Its hard to burst a bubble when i said thats a quick glance and u can eliminate the craptastic ones without looking further, but hey you got to flex your imma led pro muscles *rolls eyes*

I never said you were an asshole and im a sarcastic smartass its just the way i am. I meant it in a joking way cause to me it felt like, one guy asking another how to multiply, and a third showing up and trying to explain calculus and quantum mechanics. Take it however you like but if what i said offends you my advice is to get some thicker skin, cause it was never intended that way.

If i want to offend someone, they will know it, lol.

I don't get it I guess? You took it as a shot 1st. Maybe it is you that needs thicker skin? You brought me into this, I was bringing maff.

Again, what makes you think im mad? I quite enjoy poking fun at people who take things abit too seriously. You yourself admitted you were riled up and pushing buttons. What driver were you planning on using?

More free advice: 15-20 par watts a sq. Ft.

8 22" eb strips in a 2x2 will get you in there. And 3500k is a good all purpose temp...i use 3500/80 cri myself.

Not sure on the driver, but I am assuming it will be a meanwell. The space is MAX 2x2 and am planning a one plant Scrog. If all goes well I have plenty of room to expand.

Any thoughts on the 90cri vs 80? i was under the impression 90 would be the better go as per dawgs side by side? or was that just for that particular cob?

If I had a "Do-Over" button, I would sure go with the 90 cri now. Doing the math (I'll save the wall of words on that one), the 90 cri puts out about the same amount of photons as the 80 cri. It is just that more of them are outside of the conventional PAR window of 400-700 nm. But weed doesn't have a PAR meter and it seems to really like the peak about 630nm and all those photons above 700 nm. I, like many, am waiting for the harvest weights from the Dawg's side-by-side.

Thanks man, and yea i threw that little dig in there towards you know who just for a laugh. Some people have good intentions but just like hearing the sound of their own voice and cant take a sarcastic joke about it. For now im going with the eb strips, future expansions maybe QB's but the lack of supply combined with smartass replies from the creators has me not ordering there for now. Here's hoping a whole bunch of competition makes those samsung 561c's common and cheap on boards.

And yes the 561c's are expensive, but not in bulk for the actual diodes. Thus my hoping for more competition on that front like qb's. The qbs seem to be a good deal but the way that stephen guy responds to potential customers is off putting to say the least.

My 2 cents worth...don't get in a pissing contest with anybody. You'll be a lot happier.

And If I did buy a 561c board, it would be from HLG. Their customer service is second to none. The only competition they have that I know of is the Sun Board...about 2/3 the the diodes for about 2/3 the price (correct me if I'm wrong). I read where Cutter will have an offering...but the price and details to follow. It is an exciting time for LED lighting.
