My 2 cents worth...don't get in a pissing contest with anybody. You'll be a lot happier.

And If I did buy a 561c board, it would be from HLG. Their customer service is second to none. The only competition they have that I know of is the Sun Board...about 2/3 the the diodes for about 2/3 the price (correct me if I'm wrong). I read where Cutter will have an offering...but the price and details to follow. It is an exciting time for LED lighting.
Pissing contests over the internet arent my thing. I tend to shut stuff like that down with sarcastic humour and if people are looking to argue i just poke the bear with a stick thru the cage and laugh the entire time. Noone on the internet has ever ruined my day and never will. I was referring to his responses to others as ive read tons and tons in research mode and i just have a problem spending money with someone who can act that juvenile when trying to run a business. Just my 2 cents.

As far as the competition goes, mark from cutter is going to have something soon and ive also heard of another on a different forum i frequent. Also dont forget Chilled, all things equal board/price wise i'd buy from vitali all day long, that guy handles things properly but their stuff is a bit more high end. I havent really looked at sun boards, ill have to check it out.

Arrow sells the 2ft 3000k H-series strips for $9.75 with free shipping. The B-lux eb strips are $7.48 from Digikey and shipping is about $1 per strip. So 91% output for 86.9% of the price.

The samsungs also output more at any given current because they are slightly higher voltage.

I'd call it a wash

I have been hanging out in this section of RIU for about 4ish years, and there are some really sharp guys in the LED section. Guys like, "I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you." Those kind a guys. Anyway, fortunately, you don't have to have an extensive background in math to build and work with LEDs.

I don't think the 561c strips or boards are worth the price premium. The H-series strips are close to double the price of the EB strips and the EB strips are about 91% as efficient as the H-series strips when run as soft as the H-series strips. And the EBs are rigid, easy to mount, easy to cool, 3 different lengths, relatively cheap, AND (wait there's more) there available!:hump: What's not to like!

What driver were you planning on using?

More free advice: 15-20 par watts a sq. Ft.

8 22" eb strips in a 2x2 will get you in there. And 3500k is a good all purpose temp...i use 3500/80 cri myself.
Would this work?

6x 22" EB strip. with Meanwell HLG-120-700? Any other suggestions welcome.

Thanks!

I don't mind being wrong and getting better info...was comparing both prices at digikey. 2 foot 3k are what I like to use.

Me too.

And at $9.75 and free shipping you can buy 8 x 2ft strips for the same price as a quantum board :o

Thats 26% more output, better spread, and easier cooling for less money. Kinda bizarre how folks are still buying those things huh?

Why? Because this is a new development... the same strips cost $16 at digikey, and ONLY the 3000K ones are that cheap (the others are $13+ for qty1) @ Arrow.... previously you had a minimum order of 1000 to get that price (now min of 100 on the non-3000K)...

Great find BTW.... last I looked they were still out of stock.

One more thing, you can't count on arrow pricing to stay the same over time.... if you want the deal you should jump on it.

But if i was in the market for a new flowering fixture I would not be waiting in line for a quantum board...

So how did you find that deal on arrow? I order my drivers and Samsung LEDs from arrow and like previous post their prices change significantly and without warning.

I was about to ask that cause im searching through arrow right now and am having difficulty finding the 2 foot samsung h strips. I know ive looked at them on both digikey and arrow before but for the life of me i cant find them today.

Yep, and all i did was make a fairly innocent joke about it and dude got bent out of shape thinking i called him an asshole or something. Maybe he reads these replies and gets it was an innocent eye rolling laugh with no ill will.

And yes the 561c's are expensive, but not in bulk for the actual diodes. Thus my hoping for more competition on that front like qb's. The qbs seem to be a good deal but the way that stephen guy responds to potential customers is off putting to say the least.

Im trying to not be a dick here, but that will change soon...
