For absolute correct numbers, I would need to go and open the package with my gen2 to look up the wiring. Or do you know, how they are wired?

19,5v means 7 diodes in series to me,
would be ~2,785v per diode,
16 parallel sections fits with 112diodes, so 7s16p
would be 43,75mA per diode.

That's IMO the only possible solution for the 2ft. strips.
On that basis the 4ft. strips would be 14s16p(39v/700mA).

Ah, okay! I have not seen this paper yet but as far as I see it seems we can expect 185lm/w at half nom. current. for a 3500k strips(50°C).
Still a better efficiency than the suggested 6x 4ft F-series DR. Beside a uniformity, which will impress! 5/6 of the canopy will be covered with LEDs! 560 diods / sqft :bigjoint: For the same money!

Edit: that‘s nearlly 4 diods each sqinch, or 0,6 diods each qcm... pretty much the maximum, you can only beat it with 16-20x F-series SR

There should be a "like" next to the "reply" field in the bottom right corner.

What are you using? Mobile, tablet, Win or Linux, iOS or Android? Maybe you need to try another browser or switch to "desktop view" in settings.

i replaced 7 gen 1's with a mix of 3k and 5k gen 2 strips and the difference was amazing. I am just vegging with these but they seem to be overkill even at around 700ma.

The LM561c (3k / S6) reaches 187lm / w at 65mA, the SMD2835 (3.5k / unbined) reaches ~ 185lm / w at 20mA. That means, we need three times as many blux diodes as on the F-strips to get the same efficiency.
That means, a 2ft. F-Series(72) and two 2ft. EBgen.2 strips(224) running with the same wattage gives us almost the same efficiency.
So you could say, calculated over the thumb you need twice the number of EB stripes to get the same efficiency, but with the advantage of being able to distribute the light even better.

Only reason to take F-series is to top these 185 lm/w, but price will increase by 30-50% (depending on efficiency).

You have to weigh out the initial cost of the chips vs efficiency savings over time.

The Samsungs have better efficiency but cost a bit more than the bridgelux eb series. When you have to buy so many to get uniform coverage the efficiency matters less and less because you may need years to recover in electricity costs vs setup costs.

Hard to make a comparison without setup requirements. Hopefully someone else can chime in on your other questions

So I'd think to go with samsung...making some reserch i found that....do I missing something?
Bridgelux is both more efficient and cheaper (run at max 700ma?)

LER=331.66 lm/W
= 2.55 µmol/J

EB Series Gen1 3000K
QER=4.87 µmol/J
LER=324.99 lm/W
= 2.34 µmol/J

15.5W * 2.34 µmol/J / 7.41$ = 4.89 µmol/$

F-Series Gen3 3000K

QER=4.86 µmol/J
LER=321.60 lm/W
= 2.54 µmol/J

25.8W * 2.54 µmol/J / 14.48$ = 4.53 µmol/$

I think the minimum order for the 5000 and 3500 is 1 strip for the Gen2. But yea a few of the colors have a high minimum order

My last order from Arrow was on my doorstep in less than 24 hours.... No BS, NV to Upper MI, 2pm order placed on MON, Fed Ex delivery TUE before noon.....

these gen2's will be my first EBs (I have a bunch of samsung stuff)... anyway, decent chance I can run the 4 fters at 700ma (nominal) with no extra cooling?

It's amazing how much ambient airflow cools strips and also the aluminum heatsink/frame.

I've tried running my 1120mm strips on a thin aluminum sink at 1050ma with no airflow and they got extremely hot, especially if they are near the top of a tent. With a bit of airflow hitting maybe 60% of the frame it cooled down the entire fixture to the point of the aluminum being cool to the touch. I'd bet if you had constant airflow on bare strips you could run them at 1050ma and not worry but I haven't tried running them bare myself.

I know, I'm close to the point now of getting the balls to make an open air 1050ma set, using one box fan as the only source of cooling.
In my neck of the woods, the sub zero winter temperatures are challenging to manage, so I'm considering a large veg system that runs "hot" to help maintain the room temps....
I have a brainchild of a large enough collection of strips, with thermostatic dimming, in order to completely dial in the veg area.
