Bubble cloner question

I have a home made bubble cloner I've used on a few runs before with great success...lately im running into issues where i can only get about 2 out of 12 clones to root. This has happened twice now and in various sites on the cloner. Previously i had this hooked up to a different pump and different air stones and was also taking cuts from a different mother of the same strain...

I guess my question is, is it possible I've ran into a genetic that is just tough to clone or is it more likely that my smaller pump just isn't cutting it with the oxygen content in the water for as high of a success rate.

I usually end up after about 8 days with a couple well rooted clones and the rest with absolutely nothing on them other than a brownish base on the stem and wilting leaves a few days after that. It's a 2gal container and a 20g or 30g aquarium pump. Previously was hooked up to 1 of the 2 ports of a 100g pump. My res Temps range from roughly 75-80 degrees in distilled water under a cheap "plant light" cfl tube instead of a 23w cfl 6500 i used before. I know there's a lot of different factors but i don't think most should be problematic besides the o2 content or the different mother in general.

Any help would be appreciated just getting frustrated not being able to fill my sites in my flowering chamber because of a drastic decrease in cloning success...

pics might help. Im curious about this too as i'm deciding size and shape for one.

also i know roots like it in that range but i've found when cloning 85-90 speeds them up... with well rooted cuttings on the good collars/netpots and nothing on the roots for bad collars/netpots there must be an issue, like you mentioned maybe pressure from pump with areas of pvc with less pressure not reaching..idk talking out my | )@| ) here

try 10 drops of clorox per gallon of water. you can make pool shock solution or buy expensive shit thats clorox in a different bottle. unscented, NOT the no splash, just the cheap ass old school regular

i don't think low temps are important for cloning, but they are once the clones form roots. low temps promote dissolved oxygen and holds down pathogen expansion, theres no roots to absorb the oxygen, and some h202 or sodium hypochlorite (bleach) will keep pathogens under control

I normally use Dip and grow pretty cheap dip clone then put a little in the water have bout 90% success rate. but like Komoshan said pics would help.

it is most probable that your success rate declined with the temperature decline. keep temps at 80f

if you're sterile I agree with Zem, but if your not sterile I agree with Roger.

At 0.2 ml per gal bleach. My clone game is amazing now and it has to do with keeping sterile. I run 87 F water too, check the picture below.


I recommend this:

1. boil you airstone and airline
2. circulate 5 tsp/gal bleach for longer time with old collars in place
3. Insert new collars, fill with water, add 0.2 ml/gal bleach
5. Fill with cutting then boost again with 0.2 ml/gal bleach
6. Additives last.

Additive are last because they react with the chlorine.

check out Permaclone, they'll tech support you until you have bad ass roots.

How long before u cloned the mother did you feed the mom and was it a heavy dose of N? If you just fed the mother prior to taking cuts and fed her a high N dose of food the clones will take a bit longer sometimes.... but usually once u see the stem turn brown and get slimely you should probably start fresh and clean and refill with water and new clones... I'm slowly figuring this out myself...

def needs to be sterile, like the others said use bleach or pool shock, or even more simple just use some city tap water. the chlorine in it will keep everything nice and sterile
