bubbleponics without hydroton?

is hydroton needed? or can i just use net pots and neoprene collars to hold the stalk in place?

also how can i equalize air pressure in a 2line air pump, if each line is split into 2 again for a total of 4 lines? it seems each main line is pushing out only enough air for 2 of the 4 airstones to get the bubbles going.

hydroton helps anchor the plant, may seem like it doesnt do much at start, but when the plant gets bigger you need all the support you can get.

They make little valved manifolds, you can roughly equalizes each line with them.

Grow medium is there to support the plant from falling over. You can run without it but you will run into problems later.
What's the psi and how many liters per minute is the air pump? It might be to small to run 4 airstones. The best way to to run multiple air lines is with a manifold directly off the air pump like this.
