Bud Blood / MoaB VS late-stage PK boosters?

    Hey all,

Forgive me if this is a newbie question :) Why not use something like KoolBloom powder instead of Bud Blood/MoaB in the first 2 weeks of flower? The products are both high in PK - so what is the difference?

    Ingredients:

BudBlood: Potassium sulfate, potassium phosphate and magnesium phosphate.
    MoaB: Potassium Phosphate, Ammonium Phosphate
Open Sesame: Ammonium Phosphate, Potassium Phosphate, Potassium Sulfate (+other ingredients)

VS late PK booster like KoolBloom:

KoolBloom: Ammonium phosphate, ammonium sulfate, potassium phosphate, potassium sulfate and magnesium sulfate.

I underlined the common ingredients to highlight the similarity. I'm particularly interested in people's past experiences with this, if you have any. Have you tried this before?

In fact! I just realized MoaB can be used for both, per their site's product description! http://www.madfarmerproducts.com/m-o-a-b/

So is it reasonable to expect that KoolBloom powder can be used in the first week as well as the last 2 weeks? Obviously the reason I ask is because KB powder is way cheaper than Bud Blood.

Seasoned growers don't give high PK at the start or at any other time during a plants life, its been proven that cannabis needs for P is way overplayed by shyster companies.

I agree. A balanced feed with all macros and micros is all that is needed.

I have even used Dynagro foliage pro. It is geared towards cannabis and its a 9-3-6 and cannabis responds well to it all the way to the end even with the higher N.

Dynagro is not available here in UK but all I hear is positive reviews online about is All those 20-55-45 rocket fuel ratios are reckless suicide but noobs think more is better.

Keep it super simple and less is more are the best advice for cannabis.

I appreciate your guys' input, but I'm looking for feedback from people who don't come from your school of thought and actually use these nutrients :)

I've been using AN's Big Bud since the Dr. Hornsby invented it and swear by how good it works. It's N-P-K ratio is 0-15-35 and it has great amino acids to boost flowering that regular PK boosters don't have. Most use twice as much P as K and that's great for tomatoes but not for pot.

Last year I ran out of BB and used some Part B dry crystal hydro nutes from Nutrigrow as a bloom booster and was very unhappy with the results. It's N-P-K is 3-9-27 so it's similar in ratio to the BB but none of the aminos and only 3.5% sulfur compared to BB at 10%.

The plants I'm growing now got Bud Ignitor at the start of flowering too and I'm liking it so may start using it on a regular basis. Very pricey but it's only used for the first 2 weeks and along with the BB seems to really help.

Thanks! How about Bud Blood though? Big Bud is an additive in weeks 3 & 4 of bloom AFAIK, whereas Bud Blood is an additive for weeks 1 & 2?

I spoke to my local hydro guy and he mentioned that the difference is actually not listed in the ingredients - supposedly hormones are added to Bud Blood to do more than just regular PK boosters. Meant to lessen spacing between flower sites.

Big Bud is for weeks 1 - 6 on an 8 week strain and the Bud Ignitor is just for the first two weeks and promotes more bud sites while the Big Bud makes those sites grow larger and faster. Both have a bunch of amino acids and other things to help them work better. A buddy was telling me that the Bud Factor X really packs on the trichs so I may get some of that down the road to try too. I'm trying OverDrive again because I got a liter for half price but didn't notice a big difference the last time I used it. I'm getting pretty gooey buds so something is working. :)

The rules that pertain to agricultural fertilizers here and in the US don't allow the nute makers to list everything on their labels unless it's approved by the gov't so labels can be different from state to state. If asked at AN's website for location choose International to get most ingredients listed for each product.

A lot of the supplements are redundant and using all of them, if you can afford it, usually ends badly. Not just AN either but most now have a lot of stuff you don't really need. Nutes are a small part of my growing budget compared to electricity costs so why not soup up the grow a bit. :)

I'm trying Sonic Bloom by Humbolt for the first time... waited until week 3 of flower to add tho. Plants seem to like it so why the hell not.. everyone has their own take on how to grow etc etc. If these boosters didn't work? They wouldn't be around. I wouldnt ask for any tips or secrets on here either. Most people wanna see a person fail rather than succeed... and who the hell is gonna show you where their hidden fountain of youth is. NO ONE..

I actually have a bottle of Big Bud lying around. Do you use any other nutes alongside with it?

The old Big Bud was just MKP and you might as well buy MKP as you'll get the same results. If you have a farm/agri wholesaler in your area you can buy MKP for $50-60 for 50Lb bag.

Along with the base nutes I use Rhino Skin from the start and don't wait until flowering like the bottle says. About half doses every 2nd feeding for pots. A week before I flip I add extra Bloom and a 1/2 dose of the Big Bud to "prime the pump". With the Ignitor I add a 1/2 dose of that too. Plants are extra hungry during the stretch and they seem to like an early dose. People that wait for weeks after flipping to add boosters are missing the mark according to grow bibles, nute makers instructions and my personal experience.

The only thing that's really changed since BB first came out and now is the NPK was 0-10-40 with 7% Mg, citric acid and 18 amino acids. That's from the label on the old jar I have from it's earliest days when Dr. Hornby's name was still on the label. Now it's 0-15-35 with no Mg but 10% sulfur, citric and ascorbic acid, (vit.C), and 20 amino acids along with whey protein hydrolysate which is a protein/amino acid that is used for body builders and a great plant booster too that only a couple nute makers use as a secret ingredient. I just found that out by looking it up. :)

Stuff like MKP is just potassium and phosphorous in high concentrations. Nothing else. I'm sure it works just as good tho.

That's a pretty cynical attitude for a nOOb to have. There's a lot of people here, myself included, that go out of their way to help folks by sharing the methods and secrets that they have learned through years of study and practice.

Here's a secret and a tip for ya. Sonic Bloom's PK ratio is back-asswards and you should have used it a couple weeks before you did. Ta-dah! See, we know how to share. ;)

Noob? Lol. Not even close. If we're talking age I'm sure you got me beat by 30 years... Definitely know how to grow tho. Do you?? I'm glad you know how to read the back of a label.

All of their line is very good and recommend it For essential oil and trichome development use "Terpinator" this stuff really work's - unbelieable !!! in later flower use a nutrient that has higher amounts of K than "P" (Bud Blood) . - Higher "p" amounts than "K" in middle flower (Big Bud)

And that's what the old Big Bud was, besides it works 100% the same, if you think other wise I got a nice bridge with a big bud container under it for really cheap.

I meant nOOb by the length of your membership here as I have no idea how long you've been growing and not trying to start a flame war. I'll see your buds and raise you some colas. ;)

    Girls01.jpg
53 days since the flip and I'm not sure how much longer but they're still getting bigger. 1st run of this cross and they've had a bumpy ride with light bleaching and a but of nute burn while I figure out what they like best and pushed them hard. I'm sure yours will be a lot fatter soon. :)
