Buds turning to powder! and mold! NOOO

ok so I've harvested the first couple of plants from my first grow. YAY!
I had 20 plants all different strains. Ive had a few hanging up to dry in my water heater closet in the garage. its not too hot or too dry. (ill put a reader in there and give you guys the temp and humidity soon.)

well after a week of hanging some of my buds are SO crunchy that just touching them turns them into dust. wtf happened? it doesn't look anything like bud I have bought before.

Ive thought maybe my lights werent powerfull enough and left the buds too wispy to dry right. but even the dense colas did it.

Im going to try and salvage some of the buds still moist hanging by getting bags and when they are slightly dry put them in there.

also one of my plants that was hanging has a whitish powdery stuff on it. im guessing mold and popped it in the freezer to kill it. how long till i can take it out? and then what do i do with it?

Sorry about the overdrying, but that is semi reversable. As for the moldy bud, THROW IT AWAY!!!! It is unsafe to inhale/smoke mold & mold spores! My uncle died from a fungal infection of his lungs. Doubt it was from smoking (he had other ailments) but either way the lungs are nice and moist with fresh air, and darkness. NEVER try to salvage moldy pot!!! Good luck.

you can make pot-food with the moldy bud. The heat of cooking will kill the mold.
