Bugs and something else?

Ok heres the deal...

1.) I checked the plants today for the first time in a week or so, and one plant had some bugs on it kinda looked like small spiders or something? They had the top set of leaves that were just coming up, all wrapped up tight in some dumb web thing, it looked like a giant bud when i was walking up to the plant....

2.) None of my other plants had any visible bugs or anything other then that one, but it seems that all of the new sets since ive been there last were "ripped" in half on just the middle finger of the sets of 5 that are coming up; If that makes sense.... (seperated at the vein on each side, but just on the middle top most leaf of each set)....

Whats going on with my babies?

Thanks guys, ill check into it, i only found them on one plant, is that what is tearing the leaves on the other plant or is that something not related to the spidermites? :joint:

Something else. Spider mites will not tear leaf. The little bastards will just quietly suck the life out of the plant.

Neem oil, safers spray, dotcor doom fogger, advid, and pest strips (not the sticky kind) will help. They hatch every two weeks.

If you treat the under side of the leaves then remember to hit them with water after a couple days to wash it off.

Yeah waiting for the neem oil for the spider mites, seem to have stayed on only one plant thank god!!

I also noticed lastnight some pure white bugs that seem to hop, could this be whats tearing the leaves, the tearing has not gotten any worse....

Are the white ones bad too and will the neem take care of those or just the spider mites?

Also forgot to add can spider mites be black or other colors then red?

Gnats (with a G and not a K...come on people) and other bugs like access to your soil (you are using soil right?) to feed and lay eggs. Put a layer of sand over the top to keep them out.

You can also go leaf by leaf with some rubbing alcohol and a q-tip, focusing on the underside of the leaves. It kills the gnats and their eggs instantly (and probably anything else living under there).

So sand will prevent them from coming back to my plant or soil?

I used alcohol and i think i got rid of them all but will the sand prevent them in the future? If so ill make a layer around the base of each plant... Wont affect my copper slug rings at all will it?

It seems the whole world is after my kids :-( :spew:
