Build or Buy?

yeah i just built one for less then 30 $ (wal-mart) i got a ten gallon rubbermaid bucket and two fish tank pumps one dual that works for 5-30 gallons then a single one that does 5-20 gallons so i gor three air stones two 14 inchers and 4 incher and that does very good so far great bubble i only cut one hole for one plant but you can easily do 4 in it for veg at least but one soild the hole way though

Ha! Yea when I saw some of the other DIYs from the original GrowFAQ and GreenKind, I decided not to re-invent the wheel. I did actually build it (for like $20) but I have not had the opportunity to try it out yet. Next year's grow will likely be a DWC hydro grow.

why buy when one can build, given you have hole saws or a dremel, and time
Why do you need a hole saw or dremel? The net cup holes are cut out with an exacto razor knife or any sharp instrument. Its much easier than I originally expected, after all its just a tub of water with an air pump attached. I feel like a fool even asking the question after I built mine and realized how rediculously simple it is.

Any suggestions for pot size and number of aerator's for an 18 gallon tub? Im trying to transfer 5 plants from a smaller system i used just to start the seeds to this one im building now.
