Building hydroponics.

I am looking to build a hydroponic system. Any tips, trouble-shooting etc., etc. I am looking on using a grow tent that is 4'11X4'11X6'7 I only plan on growing 8-10 plants per cycle. Just tired of paying outrages prices for decent stuff. Haven't bought anything yet as I want to have a plan before i start this party. As far as a budget I've set aside about $2,000. I would prefer to build a good system rather than buy one, BUT if a pre-built system is much better than a home made one then I wouldn't mind purchasing one. But like i said I am only growing for personal use, so i wouldn't need a setup that is to large.

On a side note, what is the yield of 8-10 plants on average?
(using a hydroponics system rather than a soil based set-up?)

yeild depends on your strain and wattage... I built my hyro setup for my first grow wich is in its 45 day of flowering. I posted a ton of pics and info on what I did on my journal. awesome thanks for the heads up and i will probably be using your assistance at some point. I am considering using the Ein Gedi system, but the dutch bucket method seems easier for my first hydroponics grow. What is the grow medium that you use? I was considering a Coconut Coir / perlite mix but there are rockwool cubes that might get the same effect and be easier on me.

In the same boat as you, beside you dont know what is in the buds you are buying. I have learned loads and I am about 30 days into my 1st DWC, and I have had my share of problems. I also have some pictures in my journal of the equiment.

Any strain work better for hydroponics. I don't see why one strain would work better than another for the system, but the things i don't know...
