burped the jars during high humidity

It's raining heavy outside and I burped my curing jars without thinking about the humidity.. well now my weed feels damper than it was before I burped it. Still smells and tastes good though. My hygrometer says the humidity is 62% in the room im burping my jars in. Usually it's like 40-45. Should I turn the heat up in my house to get the humidity down?

You should dump the bud out and dry it until it's no longer damp. Using a hygrometer that fits INSIDE your jar helps a lot. The ambient room humidity should not be much of a factor unless the bud is not dry enough to jar up in the first place. I would also run a dehumidifier near your drying area if is too humid. Branches should be dried enough to snap before the buds are in jars.

the well known idea is to snap a twig

if it snaps clean and loud it then be ready to jar

hint/ 14 days at 75F? and 60-65%Rh is good

pet stores sell very small hydrometers meant for lizard cages. So much easier to know the humidity inside the jar for $5

Whats up with everyone trying to get their buds into jars superfast after cutting, if your weed goes damp you rushed the drying process.

DIdn't I say the weed was damp AFTER I burped it during the high humidity... if the humidity outside the jar is higher when you burp it's gonna dampen your weed. RH in the jars was 52% now its 58% after burping. The fuckin weed's been bone dry for two weeks with the twigs snapping and I've been burping it daily. Dont be so quick to up your post count when you don't understand the question

Not really - it's going to take a lot longer then you burp for. The amount of increased RH that gets in the jar. Is not going to raise the RH in any amount enough to be detrimental.

For proper curing - 62% is the best spot. It also makes for better smoking. Joints don't run as much and you get a more potent hit off any way you smoke it..

That 58% is really better then that 52%. At 52% your actual curing has slowed down significantly!

Actually, that's too dry V!

You want the stem to "crack" when you bend it, not snap in half! Once the material is below about 52% RH. The actual "cure" has just about stopped and very, very slow at best. 62% Boveda packs. Hold the perfect cure RH. That's better on your lungs when you smoke it too.

and 62% RH is also perfect for cigars....some folks prefer a bit higher or lower, but 62% is pretty much the industry standard

I do prefer mine around 70....s-l-o-w cool burn, with a tight clean ash....

I agree with Dr. Who... 62% RH is always my target. The thing is RH is dependent on temperature and goes up when the temperature goes down... I had problems with a long-term cure that hit 70% RH so I shoot just a tad under (60%RH) and cure with Boveda packs. Smoother to smoke and the higher amount of water can make pressing the bud for oil more productive...
