I've only ever buried one and haven't had an issue but i need to do it again and am concerned on account of it being close to a pond and the soil doesn't drain well at all so i was thinking maybe crushing up some bricks and throwin in hole before placing buck tp help with that if necessary, would the bucket drain properly?...does anybody do this?
i was thinking that maybe the standing soil underneath would add up and stop the bucket itself from draining

if it comes up a big rain u think it'll continue to drain or overflow out the top of bucket ...would that matter either way i know I'm asking a million questions

This is my first year using pots. I sink them flush with the ground. But then I'm in the Sandhills, so drainage isn't a problem. We have been having lots of rain though.

Dig your hole a little bigger than the pot, and put in some sand around the pot. Should help with drainage.
