Cabinet material question

Searching around the net most cabinets made by manufacturers seem to be metal. I have seen cool setups in wooed armoire's etc. I have a walkin closet that is 8"x9" and I am looking at a multi wall unit with a couple wardrobes, cabinets above etc. My concern is these are melanine/mdf/pressed board etc. I am curious if a melanine type cabinet can last. My thought was using I have a 8 foot ceiling. I can get wardrobes plus cabinets to take this all the way to the ceiling. This way when I build a grow box from the wardrobe I can put ducting inside the cabinet all the way into the ceiling and it can't be seen. As far as heat with these I plan on using LED. One thing I haven't figured out is the best way to seal a crease between the doors. All in all it will look like IKEA barfed in my closet giving a modern closet organization look but inside is the goodness. Lastly should not just the cabinet but the actual closet also be ventilated with a carbon filter also? Maybe make so bathroom exhaust that looks like a light like http://www.homedepot.com/p/Air-King-Decorative-Nickel-70-CFM-Ceiling-Exhaust-Fan-with-Light-DRLC702/203258476# probably loud as hell. Anyway this closet it still a closet so ventilation is very important.

Thanks in advance and love info sharing here.

You would need to ventilate the cabjnet and the closet only if your hot air from the cabinet exits back to the closet. If you have air coming jnto the closet and all the waste air from te cabinet gets piped out you will be fine. If it is your place. (You own it). Why not build a false wall in your closet and just make a super secret stealth room in your closet? This would be easier imo. Im pretty good at making cabinets and growing in them. You can check out my journal for specifics. :-).

Good luck!

Thanks for the input. It's appreciated.
I do own my house so yes I have the ability to do whatever I want. As far as stealth my walkin closet is already a locked door and there is no reason for anyone to be in there besides myself and the supportive wife. I do like the thought of a wall but the perfect spot has a window. basically it's a 8x9 room, 8 ft ceiling. Door one side, window opposite, clothes rails along te 2 sides. Maybe one of the long walls with the rack. So I am trying to figure access. Shit let me try to get pics because Im confusing mysef :)

So I did some exploring in the attic. The main attic would be sweet but to many joists to setup anything. That said I have another attic above my attached garage. There is brick between the home and the garage attic so screwed on HVAC. The garage attic has a main walk area about 20ft+ long and 6ft wide by approx. 7ft in the center. I can easily separate a portion. So I live in the Midwest so cold winters, hot and humid summers. So I was wondering if anyone else has setup a room in the attic and used something like ductless mini splits for HVAC. I was thinking I would wall off most of the area and use the ductless inside with thermostat to adjust as needed. Anyone use one? how did you hide the compressor? Maybe a portable AC with a heat pump is better. Thoughts? Just this attic is easy access, has a floor and electric already, separated from the main house so less stank. Thanks in advance, gonna see if I can find a way to get water in there :)
