All us Cali growers already know we grow the best weed in the world. And days like today are the reason why...near 100 degrees (record high temps) today in California's central valley. The 10 day forecast shows low 90's to high 80's throughout! I think they need a bit of cold at the end to finish up correctly though.

Any thoughts?

It's all relative to what your palate considers the best.

We in Cali have been producing high quality buds commercially for decades. But it doesnt mean we are the best. That is a broad statement left to the smoker.

There are plenty of countries that have top notch buds. Holland, Spain, and our maple loving flannel wearing brothers up north the Canadians.

I do think its funny how most other countries want our genetics. GDP, blue dream and others and highly sought after in other parts of the globe. Whereas here those are all common place. You can go to a dutch coffee shop and smoke a j of some gsc.

Who's is the best? Depends on who is growing it and who is smoking it.

And the worst thing is here in aust I fail to see or hear of anyone breeding or crossing strains to make their own .....I dont even know of anyone who does their own seeds like mo and co here....until that happens ppl like me are going to always wish we had some cut only strains like cp and blue dream etc...gsc

Agreed.

I'd like to see a baydream or blue dream x GSC. Up the yield and add even more potentcy. It'd be a beast outside as most know blue dream get massive.

I don't know anyone in my circle that breeds. In fact im the only one that uses seeds. All use clones and most cant verify genetics. Verification of genetics is up in the air regardless IMO. Growing from seed insures that you should be at least in the gene pool you are trying to grow from. Phenotypes and variations will obviously occur. Thats a whole other thread.

Well I've never had Cali weed, but just from the looks it seems better than bc. (Outdoors for sure is better!) and you guys seem a lot more sure of your strains. Most people up here run cuttings indoors. And they all get told the cuts are from whatever strain is selling best at the time. I've smoked "pk" and "greencrack" from countless growers in the last 5 years. While they are all really good bud, I doubt that any 3 are the same. Lol. As far as Canada though, we've got the monopoly over in bc. My favorite weed in "my world" is the stuff I've grown under myself under the sun... Just can't beat it :bigjoint:

I've had the pleasure of smoking some of the famous "bc bud". The sample I had was well grown and very piney. Big thick nugs. I coudlnt find any negatives at all with it.

Seemed very generic though. This was in the late 90s though. Do you know the strains?

Ya there's nothing wrong with it at all, I'm sure a lot of it is as good or better than some Cali weed, I'm sure it depends on the grower. Our stuff now definitely a lot better than it was in the 90's. I think there have been way to many advancements in all the cannabis industry for it not to get better. I know what I grow now. When I used to grow indoors I just had cuts of whatever I was told. I much prefer knowing and being able to do a little research on what I grow!

Knowing what you grow is so critical. You cant base any research if everytime you grow its different. You need a stable environment including genes.

I hate it when I reach into my bag of randoms and grow a gem. I can never legitimately say what strain it is or a possible cross.

The progress is a double edge blade. Alot more strains...but also alot more fakes and lames added to the gene pool.

Id love to run some beans someone produced locally in cali. Anyone got any crosses out there they want to share? PM me

I've definitely smoked bud from the east coast that rivals cali outdoors.
Like said before it's all about the grower!
believe it or not there's plenty of shity growers speaking from my personal experiences that are in or from cali.
Then again they're plenty of good ones it's just a pretty broad paint brush that's all I'm screamin
