Can any COB or QB setup beat a 1000 HPS for $500 or less? Price drops on HPS

I was at the grow store and the place was dead. Do people stop growing in the summer totally?

They had a price cut on DE Fantoms Series 50 for $359. Great light but how as a microwave. I wonder if the HPS/DE light market is going away and they are cutting prices.

So I need a few HPS replacements. The QB twin is $268 but 2 of them or 4 boards might equal a HPS at $536 plus shipping.

The one LED web site has the 3 Veros kit for $220 but you probably need 3 or 9 zeros at $660.

Steve's LED's has a new prototype that looks very good that should be ready shortly for $600. It has more than white light too.

Someone help a brother out here?

about $550 shipped if you use RIU discount. 675 cob watts, 725 wall watts. you can maybe save $50 if you assemble them yourself from chips and heatsinks and sub bjb holders. really hard to get under $500 for a decent setup to replace HPS but depending on your electrical rate you'll recover it quickly ($200 a year at $0.15/kWh)

if you wanna be cheap blast (4) citi CLU058 at 200W each on active coolers. that will get you under $500 and still be more efficient than HPS

Thanks. You sell that Citiu CLU058 rig bro? The other suggestion with 9 cobs looks good.

I hate HPS but cheap ass Hydrofarms with shitty bulbs last run were running 2.8 lb per light for me last ttime. I want to get away from HPS as fast as I can. I hate the heat.

You say efficient but can it match HPS?

I appreciate all the light and COB companies posting here. I realize they have to stay pretty stealthy and careful due to laws. They have to talk about growing tomatoes, cabbage and shit but people here want to know about growing the wacky weed. Not f***king tomatoes.

Your getting almost 3 a light and you want to switch? Is this a 4x4 foot print you're achieving this with?
Yes. I would put in Gavitas, Fantoms or Nanoluxes but the heat with Hydrofarms is brutal enough.

I know - I get the - if it ain't broke then don't fix it idea.

Does Lowes or Home Depot have some metal I can mount it on? Thanks. :-)

Also cooler than HPS?

i can put one together for you if youre cool with the colors i have built. little longer if i have to build from scratch

at 200W per cob it will probably be closer to hps in efficiency but you can always run them softer later as you expand

What colors? You mean 3500 K? If I push them - they are still cooler than HPS? Thanks.
