ok so lets say i decided to start some plants in the middle of winter. im in the garage but the insulation sucks so its more or less the same temp as the outside. the seeds were planted in the soil straight up cuz i dont feel like sprouting them first. i have a heater where it needs to be now but for the first two days after planting the heater was M.I.A. the temp stayed around the hi 50s and low 60s. now i know i want to keep the temp around 72-74 during the whole grow process but i was wondering if the really low temp right after i planted fucked it up for me? its just going on day 3 right now so im not exactly expecting them to have already sprouted and shit but is it possible i killed the seeds cuz of the cold temp right off the start??? any input would be greatly appreciated

Seeds survive the winter in the wild, and people store them in the freezer. As long as they hadn't already started to sprout, I'm pretty sure they can handle some extreme temps. I would think that even if they had started before the cold hit them, they'd be fine, just slowed down... as long as they didn't freeze after sprouting.
