Can you do a perpetual harvest set-up using dwc?

you can grow perpetual with any style. you can even grow perpetual in the same tent. the problem with that is light penetration due to an uneven canopy.

plus you did not give us enough info. how often do you want to harvest and how much do you plan to yield?

1 oz a month - 1 tent

1 lb a month - 3 tents

you can pull a pound from a 4x4 tent with a 600w. maybe a 3x3 with a 400 if your good.

and yes to fan/scrubber question

So that would be 3 4x4 tents would a smaller 2x2 for seedling/cloning work plus a 5x5 for veg/flowering? Or do I really need another tent for vegging?

Giving us the dimensions of your available space would help.
How often do you want to harvest twice a month or every 2 months?
The basic setup would require a separate area for veg and flower. You will need to always have clones in process, veg in process and flower flowering. You would need to take bareroot clones or in rockwool. Then when rooted transfer to net pot with clay pebbles or pumice. Then transfer to DWC system when available. You will need at least twice as many net pots as DWC sites to keep the rotation going and a system to wash the medium without breaking your back or taking days to do it.
You can have a separate clone tent, veg and flower, clone/veg tent with separate flower or multiple flower. Many options dependent on how much labor you want to do, space available and strain.

ideally, you will need something smaller for seedlings/cloning and vegging.

so 1 small tent for seedling to veg, and as many larger flowering tents that you decide you need.

you just need to be ready to repopulate a harvested tent so its ready again in 2-3 months, depending on strain.

veg tent will always be working towards populating the next harvested tent.

Sorry for hijacking, but this is very interesting!!! I've been messing with DWC and i'm in love with the results.

I've got a small cloner (16 spots) & 2 tents... basically, a small 2x2 tent and a bigger 2x4 tent and very awesome lights. I'm wondering if anybody has run a perpetual with a similar setup? Can you recommend anything?

Hi bro my main room is 8.5 feet by 10 feet but I have another walk in closet where I can put a seedling tent if it all won't fit there which is 6.25 feet by 6.25 feet might be ideal for seedling I don't need incline fans or scrubber for a seedling tent right? And how small can I go If the seedling tent will be separated? I don't really know about how much I want to harvest in a given time I guess whichever amount would yield more with my given space.....

Mariano, I will tell you about my set up, but it can be done In many ways.

I have a 4x4 which I use to veg 4 plants at a time for roughly 5 weeks from clones.
In the same tent I can clone and have some clones starting while some are rooted and sat on the side lines ticking away.
Sometimes I may keep a mother plant going but mostly I clone from my vegging plants before they go into flowering.
As soon as the four main plants are in the flowering tent the rooted clones are potted up.
In summer I run a 315 cmh in there, in winter I run a 600mh.

My flower tent is 4 x 8 ft and I have two crops in there each using 4x4 and staggered roughly 5 weeks apart.
Once I put 4 plants in I super crop them to fill out the space.
One half of my tent is 570w of Quantum boards (2x 260w kits 285w each at the wall) The other half is about 720w of COBs that I DIYd.
That has pulled me 1.5lb every 5 weeks and on a couple of occasions considerably more.

I also have a long cupboard for drying.

I grow coco drain to waste though, with DWC you would have quicker growth in veg.

If I start seeds because I want a new strain then I have to add more weeks of veg to get the same results. Once big enough I take clones and run that strain usually for a few crops, sometimes run a strain for a year or 2.

Just to give you an idea of what you can do with 2 tents. If had a bigger room I would of opted for a bigger veg tent. Because it can be a struggle with a 4x4 sometimes.

what is mh?

my extra room is at 10 feet by 8.5 feet what would be optimal for this space? I can add another tent in my room for seedling if needed

MH is metal halide.
I could fit my set up your space so yeah

Sry miss read that first time round.

You could have an 8x4 for flowering. leaving 6x8.5 , so you could go for a 5x5 for veg and clones but probably better to go with a 4x4 tent for veg leaving 6x4.5 and a 2x4 of 2x2 for seedlings or clones.

However without knowing where the door in the room is its impossible to say how you should lay it out. The door is going to be key.

Thinking about hydro in general, It may be easier to just set up 3 4x4 tents and start from either clone or seed and never have to move plants about. Just have them staggered, so you might allow yourself 14/15 weeks per tent, each tent been on its own light cycle and been 5 weeks behind the other. Or if you want more plants cut it down to a 12 week cycle and have them staggered by 3 weeks. Either way you can pull plenty of weight and nice buds. You can still have a small tent for cloning or nursing seedlings.

The room is rectangular and the door is facing the lenght of the room. So that would be 1 8 x 4 for flowering 1 4 x 4 for veg and a 2 x 4 for seedlings/clones? @coreywebster

oh if I get 3 4x4's staggered how big would the cloning seedling tent be? @coreywebster

A cloning tent only need be 2x2 and you can use it as two layers if you wanted by putting in a shelf or something. You could go smaller if smaller tents are available or you could use any type of flat pack cupboard/wardrobe, whatever fits in your space.
It depends on how you want to clone, you either need room for a propagator or two which are small or you need room for a bubble cloner. But 2x2 if its just for clones or starting seeds is a fair amount of room. If using small propagators a common size is 38cm so you could fit two on the floor and two on a shelf and if needed 2 on another shelf. You can fit about 20 clones in each which would be far more than you would need to fill a 4x4. Obviously you always take many more clones than needed so you have plenty to choose from.

Sounds like it would work fine, just measure it out on your floor and make sure you can access all tents without struggling to much, so you can get water In there via buckets or whatever and your door still opens. :bigjoint:

I actually took measurements and I think one 4 x 8, one 4 x 4 and a 2 x 2 for cloning would fit. But I will purchase everything incrementally 1 question. Do I need an inline fan and scrubber for the small cloning seedling tent? I was thinking of starting it off with a 2 x 2 plus cfl lights with shelves and the 4 x 8 plus whichever Lights I can afford for now. then slowly build my way up to 3 tents. Would that work?

BTW my thermometer just got here and my relative RH in the evenings is 78% and temperature of 25.2c Someone told me to wait out buying a dehumidifier since it is expensive but it would take me 2 months to ship it from america so maybe I should just plot in the extra $300 dollars now with cheaper sea shipping rather than wait till I need it and spend almost double its price in air shipping. What do you think? Is RH that important in terms of growing. could all my plants die? Would a 60 pint be enough for a 4 x 8 tent?
