Can you make extracts or oils from leaves cut during veg?

Stupid question from a newbie. I think the answer is no, but better safe than sorry...

Can I make hash oil or an extract from leaves I pruned during the vegetative phase of growth? If not, is there any reason to save them from the garbage can?
