Don't know if anyone is still on this post but....bottom line....is it ok to make RSO OIL let's say 48 hours after harvesting???
Does it compromise any of the medicinal benefits?

Do you plan on drying the bud first or want to do it while still wet?

I was thinking just letting the bud hang for about 48 hours before starting the process with bio ethanol and a rice cooker.
Also I was thinking just to throw in leafs and stalk as well, just the whole plant.

The leaves and stalk are going to add very little to the quality of the oil but a lot of bulk to the mix so you will need a lot more solvent and end up with a diluted oil. Better to use the leaves in your smoothies and the stalks for marshmallow sticks around a campfire. :)

Using a polar solvent like ethanol/ISO will absorb any water in the buds and dilute it making it less able to dissolve the oils you are after. For wet bud a non-polar solvent like butane/petroleum ether/hexane is a better choice and they won't absorb water which will end up on the bottom of the mix and can easily be separated out.

For top quality RSO the bud should be very dry, ground up fine and cooked in the ethanol for a while before straining and evaporating. If it's for smoking then the QWISO/QWEtOH method should be used. Basically everything is kept in a freezer then the ice cold solvent poured into the cold, ground up pot and strained within a couple minutes. Do a search in the forums for more detail.

I just don't have the time for a whole batch to cure..,need the oil asap.......bottom line doing it the way Rick is showing by rubbing and crushing the bud in no ethanol.#wash it and squeeze it really good.....will I still get a quality medicine from that process.....let's say bud has been hanging 72 hours to dry max.

Should be alright. Bud going to RSO doesn't need a fancy cure as taste is not an issue. just break up colas into individual buds and dry on a screen then it should be near bone dry in 72 hours depending on temp an humidity. Hanging whole colas there will still be a lot of moisture left in the colas.
