can you use peat pellets in a net pot for dwc instead of rockwool?

I don't think so Tim.

Like a jiffy pellet? I think the pellet would eventually crumble apart breakdown and end up in the res.

If you check out my latest thread you will see that I used jiffy pellets (peat pellets) in my DWC with no problems. It didn't crumble at all. Hell I even transferred a plant from coco and it worked.

I have used them,the small ones in 5 inch net pots with small river rock instead of hydroton with no problems

so, even with after top feeding the pellet stays together? I thought the little mesh bag eventually breaks down over time and when the roots bust through it. (/me was wrong). I was wanting to use something besides rockwool for my next gro. I have been finding white fuzz on the top of the RW of my current gro
