Canna or House+ garden in promix

So I'm thinking of switching nutes up. I've done a few runs with dyna gro and before that with botanicare. I had great grows with each. I want to try a different nutes because I like to experiment. Also I have a few friends that run H+G and also Canna, they get results and swear by them. Nutes are nutes to me but I still am going to give them a shot. I have some plants in straight pro-mix and some in a mix of roots and promix. I was wondering what base to use with each depending on what I choose. A buddy uses aqua flakes a+b in straight promix. I was leaning on going with H+G soil a+b if I went with H+G. If I go with canna someone was saying that their coco a+b would work great in straight promix, thinking about it, seems like it could could work but why not just go with the terra vega and flores. Any people that have run these nutes and can give me some pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks-Ds

Pretty sure their base is basically the same. Ive also heard that the coco base does great in a peat soilless. I use H&G aqua flakes in peat soilless and love it.

I'm surprised more people don't do this, especially with promix. I believe a lot of people think of promix as soil and there for head towards soil nutes. My friend said he has great results with the aqua flakes and promix.

I think I'm going to go with H&G soil since I do have 20% roots mixed in with some of the plants. I was thinking soil a+b not amended with lime, bud xl, multi zen, I have dyna protect I'll run with it and a few other nutes. Do you have a recommended H&G recipe for soil mongo?

Can I use Aqua Flakes when using Coco or do I have to get their coco specific nutrients.

I would use the aqua flakes in soil. I do it with my moms in ocean forest. I believe the soil A&B is a waste and shouldn't be on the market. The NPK is really low. And the nutes you mentioned is perfect. Personally i just use A&B and the multi zen, with some cal mag every now and then, but I've used bud xl before. Oh yea i forgot, i use the shooting powder. Only for 2 weeks though.

What's the difference between coco specific nutes and regular nutes for hydro solutions. Coco is pretty much a soilless medium. I don't see how the two could differ that much.

the difference is the levels of calcium and magnesium are elevated and potassium is decreased due to the cation exchange capacity of coco.

Hey Mongo! I just switched to H&G. Am currently in 50% soil / 50% Coco (my mix).
Would you say the Aqua Flakes is my best bet? That's what I bought but haven't opened it yet & wasn't sure I bought the right base.
Will be switching to Pro-Mix soon too.
Thnx bro.!
Aqua Flakes is the best for everything I heard. I'm not recirculating, just a standing soil/coco medium. Whatcha think?

Thnx for the reply! It helped me feel more comfortable in my decision. The Soils A & B seams to be wasteful. Double the ml's per gall but same price for a gall. Bump that.
I used Coco's when I first started growing, worked great.
Decided to stay w/ Aqua Flakes. It has more Cal, Mag, & Iron then the others & im using RO so I thought that would help. It's also the cleanest & im not gonna use the drip clean.
Decided not to use Top-Shooter but am using The Bat Guano Comp. as well as Big Swell by Soul Synthetics.
Switching to Pro-Mix next run. Ran out of my Coco-Loco/Coco mix by one plant during transplant so picked up some Pro-Mix. I'll use it in on one of my Sensi-Stars & compare the 2 this flower. The mix I've been using has worked well for the past year. Just don't like the ppms's coming so much higher as they went in. I feel it's the cause of one of my strains to be getting locked out.
Well, thnx bud. Stop by my threads of you get a chance. They'll be starting flower this week. Peace!
