Carbon Filter, Easiest I Ever Seen (Pic)

I was using a odorsok that wasn't working. I wrapped that in an activated carbon sheet for a AC/Heat unit that didn't work. and ona gel every where.
So I'm walking through Walmart looking for materials to make something to hold carbon for my filter. I look in the laundry department and theres bra bag, I open it up it a porous mesh bag, 6" circular, zippers on both ends and a mess divider. If you leave one end unzipped the divider will allow you to expand, cost $3.67.
I bought 2 9oz. containers of activated charcoal from the a pet section. 3 would have allow me to pack the bag full with both ends full. When I placed the bag in the vent it all set in the bottom and would have allowed an inch or so of space where air could flow around, not through, the charcoal, so I took some safety pins and pulled the bag tight. It completely fill the vent.
I wish I had rinsed the charcoal first it blew a nice pile out of the vent.
It couldn't be easier, nothing to sow or put together at all. Its like its ready made for a 6" vent, don't over fill it and I think it would work in smaller vents also.
If any of the DIY filters work this will work.
There are pictures of the setup and 1 of my old filter.
Good luck.

try this.
take your bag and get a book
put the book over the bag
take a hammer and hit the book
this will break up the carbon 'rocks'

should work fine. when u have broken them up and it starts to stink ..break them up again... if that doesn't work u will have to replace your rocks.

the carbon can work great i have three of them and not the slightest smell but they cost out the ass i was hoping your filter works ...does anyone kknow shit about repacking a can filter???

I've tried every DIY carbon filter i can find to try. a couple worked for a week or two. most were a total waste of time and cash. I finally, after having no choice because my neighbors could smell skunk, broke down and bought a filter with the proper inline fan for $185.00. It's been doing it's job now for over 6 months and not a bit of odor escapes my grow room. They're are a lot of DIY projects that work great, some even better than store bought. In my opinion, If you're a serious grower and have odor concerns, buy a filter/fan combo and save yourself a lot of time and money on DIY carbon filters. htgsupply has combo filter/fans at very reasonable prices. They're also very fast shippers and are extremely helpful if you have any questions concerning grow ops. Have a great HIGH day!!!

I've looked around throughout the web for diy carbon filters for future reference for my area....tryin to plan ahead. I've found 2 that I think would work well but I'm not sure how long they would last. There's one that invloves using two pencil holders, some carbon and some panty hose. Has anyone tried this method? Does it work? Also there's really no point in my eyes of even using a carbon filter if your grow area isn't sealed off tight, is there?

I've done the two pencil cup DIY carbon filter, It actually worked amazing for me, It was attached to a 6in cpu fan and was exhausting heat from a 30-35 gallon rubbermaid tub with 5 plants under 4 26w and 1 42w CFL
